Gossip Girl Season 6 On-Set Style

In Celebrities on October 23, 2012 at 12:35 AM

There’s nothing like a bit of scandal and haute drama, especially on the TV screen. This season, and unfortunately its last, Gossip Girl is killing it with a juicy plot, a unique mix of music, sexy special guests, and ridiculously chic fashion (of course thanks to stylist Eric Daman). Dying to see the upcoming ensembles in the final season? Above are some of my favorite photos of the gorgeous fashion during the filming of the final season, courtesy of Marie Claire UK.

Anna Dello Russo For H&M

In Accessories, Celebrities on September 30, 2012 at 12:14 AM

Mark your calendars fashionistas, because on October 4th, H&M‘s latest collaboration with Anna Dello Russo will hit stores. Earlier in the month, the full lookbook of the collection was released, a huge line of 50 products, ranging from over-the-top embellished sunglasses to a clutch topped with a miniature version of Anna’s dog, Cucciolina. And let’s not forget the major (Rachel Zoe’s definitely feeling the love) jewelry reminiscent of old time jeweler David Webb. The line aims to recreate what it’s like to travel to Fashion Weeks around the globe (gasp!) and the fantasy that goes along with it.

Anna, take us with you! This is one fashion adventure not to miss. Below are my favorite pieces from the collection.

The Emmys 2012: Best Dressed

In Award Show, Celebrities on September 24, 2012 at 12:00 AM

Amid 105 degree California weather, bright flashes, Chris Harrison asking questions, and lots and lots of dresses, Hollywood’s hautest kept their cool at last night’s 2012 Emmys Awards. My favorite part of the show was unquestionably the red carpet, and I was eagerly anticipating what these A-Listers were going to wear.

Above are my favorites: Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier,  Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad, and Julianne Moore in Christian Dior. I love the tangerine hue of Goodwin’s gown and her dewy-appropriate makeup. I’m captivated by the sparkly sequin embellishment of Vergara’s dress–the turquoise hue combined with the halter neckline and open back made for a sexy and glamorous look. Lastly, Moore’s dress is just the pop of sunshine that this red carpet needed–minus the scorching temperatures. There’s something classic and timeless about a long-sleeve and full-skirt silhouette, yet Moore’s version was nonetheless refreshing.

Which red carpet look is your favorite from the 2012 Emmys Awards?

Olivia Palermo En Paris

In Celebrities on July 10, 2012 at 12:00 AM

Olivia Palermo sure knows how to pull off both hard and soft ensembles, especially last week during Paris Fall 2012 Fashion Week.

The fashionista graced the front row at both Valentino (first look) and Christian Dior (second look), catching not only the attention of photographers, but those of us around the world.

I’ve always loved Olivia’s style. She’s not afraid to mix high and low pieces, wear an eclectic mix of color, play with shapes and experiment with textures.

Although the looks above are quite opposite in style, there are some elements in which she includes in both, like high heels, a thin belt, and thigh-length silhouettes. The pink ensemble makes me think of teatime at the Plaza Athenee or a romantic day-date, while the second is an edgier, yet still glamorous, take.

Below are two sets of items inspired by Olivia’s looks above, whether you want to be pretty in pink or go edgy with hints of glam.

Dress: Jack Wills, iPhone Case, Earrings: Juicy Couture, Belt: Lodis, Sunglasses: Karen Walker, Nail polish: Essie, Skirt: Topshop, Shirt: MTWTFSS

Top: Tibi, Skirt: Topshop, Polish: Butter London, Belt: Linea Pelle, Ring: Alexander McQueen, Shoes: Rebecca Minkoff, Bag: Miss Selfridge

Hollywood’s Stylish Couples

In Celebrities on June 10, 2012 at 12:10 AM

Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively

There’s been a lot of love in the air recently, such as MaryKate Olsen dating Olivier Sarkozy and Miley Cyrus getting engaged (jeez!) to Liam Hemsworth. The whole idea of celebrity couples got me thinking that their relationships are not only haute topics in the tabloids and cyber world, but in the fashion world too; the way they dress as a duo is influential. Celebrity couples tend to be on and off all of the time, like Katy Perry and Russell Brand and Heidi Klum and Seal, but there are some who seem to be going strong as of late and are looking ultra chic in love.

First off? Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, looking sleek and sweet in black and white. The little details that make a big difference in their looks include how Blake belted her top and pants and how Ryan rolled up his sleeves, both pulling off a sexy yet classic look.

Beyonce & Jay-Z

Next is Beyonce and Jay-Z. First of all, Beyonce looks great, and it’s not just because she recently gave birth. The couple is always head-to-toe chic. I’m especially loving the couple’s shoes, both wearing pink hues that seem to match each other. And the fact that Beyonce is fashioning cheetah print (my favorite) just made this super cute photo even better.

Liam Hemsworth & Miley Cyrus

Lastly, married couple to be, Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus. I love the colors on the bottom of Miley’s dress (it looks like a trendy take on the color wheel) and how there are patches of sheer throughout. I also like how Liam kept it elegant yet young by unbuttoning his top buttons of his shirt and giving us a peek of his handkerchief in his pocket.

What do you think of these stylish couples? Will they last, or end up turning disastrous like a trend gone wack?

Trending With Peplum

In Celebrities, Clothing on April 27, 2012 at 12:00 AM

Making a return from the ’80s, peplum is back in style and is one of the hautest trends of the season. Coming in a variety of shapes, sizes, silhouettes, and colors, there are many ways to experiment with the peplum trend while still showing your personal flare. You can go as sweet as subtle delicate to as edgy as mega statement. But most importantly, it’s about finding a style that you feel comfortable in. Although it might look as if a random piece of extra fabric was added to your hips, it can actually be quite a flattering silhouette.

Celebrity fashionistas Blake Lively, Emma Stone and Jennifer Aniston have all mastered the trend. Plus, they all added the perfect amount of simple yet statement-making accessories for a sleek and chic look. Inspired by these 3 fashion darlings, below are my favorite peplum pieces.

Blue Ivy Carter

In Celebrities on January 11, 2012 at 7:37 AM

Watch out Suri Cruise, Shiloh Pitt, and Harper Steven Beckham. There’s a newborn fashionista on the block! And we’ve been waiting for her to come into this world for months!

Beyonce gave birth to Blue Ivy Carter on Saturday in NYC’s Lenox Hill Hospital. This newborn already has incredibly talented parents, a security team, and most likely a killer outfit for leaving the hospital and making her debut with an empire state of mind.

Suri might find herself some competition with Blue’s arrival; she definitely won’t be the only US Magazine pint-sized cover star and she won’t be the only toddler with a killer wardrobe.

In honor of Blue Ivy Carter, below are three of my favorite baby accessories: a Dior pacifier, Hermes booties, and a Missoni stroller.

On The Floor, To On The Runway

In Celebrities, Clothing, In The Pages on August 17, 2011 at 10:15 AM

JLO is one busy woman.  What can People’s most beautiful girl in the world not do?  JLO made her comeback this year as a judge on American Idol, and since then, her career has taken off more than ever.  If there’s one thing I didn’t expect from JLO, it would be to launch a clothing line…but she is, and I’m quite curious about what you think about it.

JLO, and her former hubby Marc Anthony (uh-oh), collaborated with Kohls to create an affordable clothing, accessories, and home line.  O Magazine readers got a sneak peak of the line in The Makeover September Issue, which Oprah graced the cover of in a beautiful gold sequin embellished gown.  JLO and O creative director Adam Glassman styled 8 O readers in her line for a spread.

I think the positive qualities of the line are its simplicity, elegance, and sophisticated vibe.  I don’t see women below their 30s being maybe quite as interested in the line as some older women may, mostly because it’s conservative and the color pallet is basic.  I do like the camel leggings with the zippers on the legs and the little fur jacket, both of which are easy pieces to have in your fall/winter wardrobe.  It’s almost like a go-to collection for your first job interview.  I think JLO’s outfit (the black romper) in the spread is the sexiest; a romper is always great with a pair of boots and a leather jacket for the colder months.

New York Magazine made a comment that I think is right on-target. “It looks like the line borrows a little from Rachel Zoe’s penchant for fur accents and Kate Middleton’s passion for sheath dresses.”  I wonder what Rachel Zoe thinks of the line.

Put it this way.  I’m not going to be running out for this line; it just doesn’t scream fresh and new for me, but props to JLO for taking on a new business venture, and always looking fabulous in everything she wears.

What do you think of JLO’s line?  Did JLO make a hit, or did she simply miss? The line will launch in September.

The Kardashians Hit Sears

In Celebrities on August 9, 2011 at 5:07 PM

The Kardashians are everywhere.  From QVC, magazines, books, Beach Bunny, Bebe, TV, iTunes, to advertisements, you’ll now be seeing the fab three sisters -Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe- at Sears.  The Kardashians individually are extremely successful, but as a whole, they are an empire.

Right when you thought there couldn’t be one more endorsement deal or collaborated fashion line, another idea arises, and the success of the Kardashians continue.  The newest venture for the sisters is the Kardashian Kollection.   The triple K’s collaborated with Sears to make an exclusive fashion line.  The line consists of jewelry, lingerie, handbags, dresses, rompers, shoes, and more.

The line is affordable (prices range from $17-$70) while still being trendy and true to the style of the sisters.  Some of the pieces scream the sisters personal taste (I think the cheetah romper is so Khloe), which is what will drive this line to being another Kardashian success.

What do you think?  Too much Kardashian, or can you simply not get enough?  My Konfession: I love them.  Below are some pictures of the line.  Check out the Sears website now for a 72 hour pre sale; all products are 30% off.

Sydney Meets Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb

In Celebrities, Hamptons, Interview/Personal Appearance on August 2, 2011 at 6:09 PM

This past weekend was definitely one of the busiest of this summer in the Hamptons.  There was Super Saturday, Polo, Russell Simmons’ Art For Life Benefit, and a special personal appearance(s); just to name a few.  Who made the personal appearance?  Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb.

On Saturday, from 3-4pm, Kathie and Hoda had a book signing outside Jennifer Miller‘s  Southampton store (my favorite place to shop for the best selection of jewelry, and now hostess gifts).  It was 3:30pm, and I was just pulling out of Nova’s Ark Project where Super Saturday was held.  Luckily route 27 wasn’t as much of a traffic jam going back towards Southampton, so I made it last minute, but still had time to meet the duo.

Kathie and Hoda both have books out. Kathie’s is The Legend of Messy M’Cheany, and Hoda’s is Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, and Kathie Lee.

At the time, I was with my mom, family friend, and brother, so I thought it would be cute to get my brother Kathie’s book.  Kathie was so sweet, and not only signed my brother’s book, but took a picture with us, and Hoda, for Style Solutions.

I’ve never been a huge talk show watcher, mainly because I’m usually not home in the mornings.  But when I do get a chance to watch one, it’s either Kathie and Hoda’s segment on the fourth hour of Today, or LIVE! with Regis & Kelly.

I’ve always adored Kathie and Hoda on TV because they always come off as so fun, real, and noticeably enjoy each others company.  This was even more noticeable when meeting them in person.

2011 CFDA Fashion Awards

In Celebrities, Designer on June 8, 2011 at 7:13 PM

On June 6, 2011, the best designers in the fashion biz gathered at Lincoln Center for the 2011 Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards.  Swarovski was the underwriter for the event, and has been for the past ten years (incredible!).

As said on CFDA.com, the annual event recognizes the outstanding contributions made to American fashion by individuals from all areas of the industry and related arts, with awards being given for design excellence in womenswear, menswear and accessories as well as extraordinary accomplishments in journalism, creative vision and lifetime achievement. This year’s nominees included Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen, Phillip Lim, Jason Wu, and many impressive others.

Tracy Reese attended the Awards with friend and Gossip Girl star, Tika Sumpter.  Both ladies looked elegant and sophisticated in black Tracy Reese dresses, both of which were appropriate for this important evening.  Whose dress do you like best?

Gaga was presented with the Fashion Icon Award, and accepted it in an ever-so-dramatic black dress with a huge black train and high heelless shoes.  Gaga’s outfit was definitely the most talked about of the night-and still is.

Sydney Interviews The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Newest Housewife, Melissa Gorga

In Celebrities, Interview/Personal Appearance on May 16, 2011 at 5:05 PM

If you are a fan of The Real Housewives reality series, then you are most certainly excited for this evening’s season premiere of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.  Two housewives are out -we lost Dina Manzo last season, and now we (unsurprisingly) lost Danielle Staub this season- but don’t worry, because there are two new cast members -Melissa Gorga and Kathy Wakile- that are joining this crazy, fun, dramatic, and addicting Season 3 that won’t make us miss the NJ “alumnus”.

Read on Real Housewives of New Jersey fans and Style Solutions readers, because I had the pleasure of interviewing the show’s newest, youngest, and most fashionable housewife, Melissa Gorga, for Style Solutions.  Gorga is a sassy and fun mom, wife, and recording artist.  Check out my interview with Melissa below.

S: As a new real housewife, what are three things everyone should know about you?

M: The first thing that comes to mind is that my family always comes first.  I always tell it like it is, and I have nothing to hide.  I absolutely love music, it has always been my first love.

S: How would you describe your personal style?

M: I am very confident in what I wear and when dressing myself.  I am not that girl who takes forever to make a decision in the closet.  I know what I like and I know what looks good on me.

S: How do you accomplish being a fashionable recording artist, mom, and wife at the same time?

M: It’s not easy.  It’s my biggest challenge right now, and I am trying to make it all work.  I am extremely passionate about all three (my biggest obstacle is juggling all of them), but I am a strong person and know I can make it work.

S: What is your favorite item in your closet?

M: Right now it’s my Max Azria romper.

S: Where can you be found shopping most and why?

M: New Jersey is the land of boutiques.  It would be so difficult to just pick one as they all offer something different, so it depends on my mood and what I am looking for.

A big thanks to Melissa, and I look forward to kicking off my week with the 90 minute season premiere of The Real Housewives of New Jersey this evening.  Check out the season premiere tonight on Bravo at 9/8c.

Met Gala 2011

In Celebrities, Fashion Designer on May 3, 2011 at 8:11 PM

On May 2, 2011, famous and respected celebrities, designers, models, and fashion-gurus attended the most prominent evening of fashion of the year: the Met Gala.  The Met Gala is equivalent (in the sense of importance) to the Oscars and the Grammys.  The theme of this year’s gala is ‘Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty’, honoring the death of world renown designer, Alexander McQueen.

The list of attendees is quite amazing, some of who included Sarah Burton (Creative Director of Alexander McQueen, and royal wedding dress designer, in photo), Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyonce, Rihanna, Christian Louboutin, Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Lea Michele, Karl Lagerfeld, Anna Wintour, Nicole Richie, the Olsen twins, and many more.

The most exciting part of the Met Gala is seeing what the A-List attendees decide to wear.  Like any red carpet event, even ones to such high importance such as the Met Gala, there is always a ‘Best Dressed List’ and a ‘Worst Dressed List’.

I have many favorite looks of the evening, but there are three that are most certainly at the top of my list: Blake Lively, Brooklyn Decker, and Ginnifer Goodwin.  Lively glowed in a Chanel half sari and half lace gown.  The combination of fabrics fitted Lively’s body perfectly, and her hair was styled to perfection.  Decker looked bright and hot in Michael Kors, pulling off the neon trend oh-so-well.  The dress showed off the swimsuit model’s sexy legs, and her nude sandals finished off the sleek and chic look in a simple way.  Goodwin went green for the Met Gala, and did so ever so well, in Topshop Unique.  I love that Goodwin didn’t wear a designer because it shows that you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to look fabulous.  The green silk twist front gown added edge to Goodwin’s edgy hair, and she stunned in a beautiful necklace with turquoise detailing.

My ‘Worst Dressed List’ includes Beyonce, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Iman, and Jennifer Hudson.  Each of the ladies looks were a little too much, and not so glamorous.  Over-the-top is not always the best.  In the ‘Worst Dress List’ ladies cases, going understated like Lea Michele (whose look I am not so much of a fan of) might have been the better option.

Overall, the photos from the Met Gala portrayed the elegance, glamour, and fashion of the evening.  I hope to one day attend this legendary evening of fashion.

Sydney Attends Fendi’s Children’s Spring/Summer 2011 Collection Fashion Show

In Celebrities, Interview/Personal Appearance, On Location on April 14, 2011 at 8:08 PM

Mom’s and tots, get ready for this season’s most fashionable children’s clothing line.  This afternoon, I had the pleasure of attending Fendi’s Children’s Spring/Summer 2011 Collection fashion show, hosted by Gossip Girl actress Kelly Rutherford in partnership with Lyss Stern’s Divalysscious Moms.

Walking into the Fendi flagship store on Fifth Avenue were gorgeous male models welcoming guests with champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and mini cupcakes.  While walking around the main floor and saying hello to some familiar faces (where there were stunning handbags and shoes, may I add) a DJ was spinning music which made the vibe of the evening fun and energetic.  A few minutes after I arrived came Kelly Rutherford, who looked stunning in a Fendi orange dress with gold jewels, and her two sons.

After everyone munched and mingled, guests made their way upstairs where the fashion show was held.  Before the show began, Stern and Fendi’s President of North America, Stacy Van Praagh, gave a thank you speech to open up the show.

4-6 year old boys and girls were the models of the show, looking adorably stylish in tapered pants, playful dresses, t-shirts, leggings, plaids, bomber pants, and more.  Each child looked cute and chic, and walked the runway with undeniable confidence.

The collection was adorable, and I particularly loved the boy’s tailored suits and the girl’s playful dresses.  The clothing is certainly not for the mother who’s on a budget, (prices range from $100-$1000) but for the mother who wants to splurge.  Check out the collection on Fendi.com.

Lady Gaga’s Cover and Spread in Bazaar: Hot, Or Not?

In Celebrities on April 13, 2011 at 5:52 PM

She was certainly ‘Born This Way’.  Lady Gaga never fails to fascinate us, be it her songs, performances, fashion, or just overall personality.  Gaga marks her presence on the cover and pages of May’s Harper’s Bazaar Magazine.  There has been lots of talk regarding her interview, but what about the pictures?  Aren’t pictures worth a thousand words?  What do you think of Gaga’s photos in the spread and cover of Bazaar?  The pictures are noticeably creative and cool, and the way she is dressed has not let me down.  Is Lady Gaga looking hot, or simply not? Vote!

The Final Girls Of American Idol Take On A Rocker-Chic Look

In Celebrities on April 10, 2011 at 3:10 PM

This season of American Idol is by far the best season yet. The contestants are amazing, each one with their own unique style.  Plus, it proves to show that you don’t need a “mean” judge, Simon Cowell, to have success: Steven Tyler and JLO make for great television.  I enjoy the show more and more each week, but I particularly liked this past week’s round since Gwen Stefani styled the final three women.

The theme of this past week’s round of American Idol was rock, and Gwen Stefani was the guest stylist.  Stefani styled the final three women: Pia Toscano, Haley Reinhart, and Lauren Alaina.  Each girl was dressed head-to-toe in Stefani’s collection, L.A.M.B, giving the girls an edgier look. All of the clothes were in black and white, the shoes and accessories were chunky and bold, and the makeup and hair styling was more “out there” too:  bigger hair and bright red lips.

Pia Toscano, who sadly and shockingly got voted off after her performance this past week, fashioned a strapless animal-print L.A.M.B jumpsuit which highlighted Pia’s body and edge.  What made the outfit, though, was the choker necklace because it was bold and statement-making.

Haley Reinheart, who has been one of my top favorites this season, fashioned form-fitting leather pants and a plaid sleeveless top.  We usually see Haley in bright and girly numbers, so it was nice to see her in this more “grown up” look.  I’m not a huge fan of the top, but I do love the pants and the strappy shoes.

Lauren Alaina, the youngest competitor, wore a L.A.M.B bandeau top, matching short shorts, opaque tights, black boots, and a fitted tuxedo jacket.  This outfit definitely has a flirty look, and makes Lauren look more mature.

Each girl’s outfit is different in some ways, but similar in others.  All the girls look great, but I have one favorite: Pia.  Whose outfit do you like best?  Vote!

Sydney Interviews Tinsley Mortimer

In Celebrities, Fashion Designer, Interview/Personal Appearance on March 28, 2011 at 12:21 PM

High Society “It Girl” Tinsley Mortimer is stylish, smart (Columbia University graduate), fashion designer (Samantha Thavasa and Riccimie), and such a sweet person.  Tinsley graciously gave me the opportunity to interview her for Style Solutions.

S: How did you become the social “It Girl”?

T: I love supporting my friends in fashion and there are so many amazing causes and charities to be a part of in the city.  Also, working at Vogue magazine and Harrison & Shriftman PR firm enabled me to meet a lot of people in New York.

S: Who are your favorite designers? (besides yourself of course!)

T: I love Dior, Valentino, Jay Ahr, Marchesa, Alice and Olivia, Brian Atwood, and Louboutin!

S: You not only have great taste in the selection of clothes you wear, but everything looks great on you.  Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

T: I always wear what I like and what makes me feel like me regardless if it is considered “of the moment” or trendy. I know what works and what doesn’t on me. I love to feel like a girly girl and look super feminine whenever I am out. It makes me feel the most comfortable and confident.

S: Tell me about your design work.

T: I design handbags for a Japanese company called Samantha Thavasa and clothing only sold in Japan for a company called Riccimie. I design bags and clothes that I want to wear, that I want in my closet. Everything is very girly with a slight edge.

S: What wardrobe suggestions do you have for the girl who is on a budget but wants to look fashion forward?

T: You can find so many amazing clothes, bags (mine range from 200-500), and shoes at inexpensive prices. It is all about the fit and really knowing what you are looking for. If you shop with specific looks in mind or for a specific occasion you are better focused and it doesn’t become overwhelming. Having a great tailor too is super important and can make anything work. Pay attention to proportions on your body. Clothes, jewelry and shoes need to be the right proportion for your size.

S: Anything else in the works for you that we should know about?

T: I was just named a National Ambassador for the Humane Association and it is such an honor. I want to encourage everyone to go to their local shelters and adopt a pet!!

A big thanks to Tinsley, and Style Solutions will continue to follow her exciting career!

What My Oscar Fashion Favorites Wore

In Award Show, Celebrities on February 28, 2011 at 3:51 PM

Glamour, prestige, and success are three of the many words that describe The Academy Awards.  Each year, actors and actresses gather at the show to be recognized by The Academy for superb work in the film industry, honored with an Oscar.  ‘The King’s Speech’ unsurprisingly won Best Picture, although I did hope the win would have gone to The Social Network.  Colin Firth won for best actor in ‘The Kings Speech’, and Natalie Portman won for best actress in ‘Black Swan’.  Many other awards were distributed, but these are the three main ones that everyone seems to care about most.

The Hosts: We’ve got the extremes- the lack of a host at the Grammy’s, and now two hosts who I feel were equally bad at the Oscars.  It is clear that The Academy wanted to reach out to a younger audience by having James Franco and Anne Hathaway co-host the show, but I feel that the award show is such a television classic that there’s no need to make it “hipper”.  Franco didn’t seem like he wanted to be there, and Hathaway was somewhat immature, cheering (shouting) left and right.  Even though I wasn’t impressed by the hosts, Hathaway did look stunning in each and every outfit (the strapless burgundy beaded one was my favorite) except for that shiny blue dress that looked like a soda can.

The Red Carpet:  Although I wasn’t too fond of the award show itself, I was highly impressed with The Red Carpet.  No one really had a terrible fashion moment, and watching Tim Gunn host on ABC was great.  I loved so many of the dresses worn on the accomplished female attendees, but there were four women’s dresses which truly grabbed my attention.

Gwyneth Paltrow: Paltrow’s look was by far my favorite of the night.  Looking ever-so-chic in this metallic Calvin Klein Collection frock, Paltrow’s body looked amazing.  The dress emphasized her long blonde locks and sun-kissed skin.  What topped this look off for me was the amazing Louis Vuitton high jewelry earrings, ring, and broach, giving the dress a colorful and glamorous quality.

Mila Kunis: Looking like a beautiful goddess, Kunis fashioned a sweet lavender lace Ellie Saab Haute Couture gown.  The color looked impeccable on her, and the ribbon waist and peek-a-boo detailing are what made this dress look effortlessly chic.  Plus, the Neil Lane diamond earrings looked miraculous as well.

Amy Adams: Glittering like a sapphire, Adams looked old Holly-Wood glam in this L’Wren Scott cap-sleeved gown.  The dress fit Adams like a glove, showing off her figure in a sexy yet classy way.  Although her Cartier emerald and diamond jewels are beautiful, they’re not the perfect match for me.  However, Adams still made my best dressed list.

Anne Hathaway: The Oscar host looked beautifully classic in this red vintage Valentino Haute Couture taffeta gown with floral applique train.  I loved how Hathaway’s hair was styled, and her bold scarlet lips complimented the dress perfectly.  To top of the look, Hathaway shined in Tiffany & Co. diamonds.

Sydney Hangs Out With Natasha Bedingfield & Other Celebs at Boy Meets Girl

In Celebrities, Interview/Personal Appearance, On Location on February 16, 2011 at 7:25 PM

Last night, I had the privilege of attending the Boy Meets Girl fashion show. Since this was an evening show, I wanted to look a little more bold than when I go to daytime shows. For my birthday, my girlfriends got me a gift card to the John Barrett Salon at Bergdorf Goodman. This was the perfect time to use it, so I got a blowout, sipped on a foamy cappuccino, and took advantage of being able to relax. After my hair, I ran home to change. I fashioned leather-looking leggings, a crochet BCBG tunic, my BCBG wedges that I blogged about a few days ago, gold hanging earrings, my Balenciaga purse, plus some more jewelry.

After a quick change, I ran to the Trish McEvoy counter at Bloomingdales where my favorite makeup artist, Billy Mercer, gave me the ultimate smokey eye (he’s the best!)  As I was walking into the building where the show took place, I bumped into Andy Cohen from Watch What Happens Live! , who accidentally came into the wrong show: right before he walked by I went up to him, introduced myself, and gave him my card (so sweet: maybe not so much of an accident?).

Thanks to my amazing friend Ellen, I was able to meet and hang out with Natasha Bedingfield. After Natasha’s fabulous performance and the runway show, I got to go backstage and meet Natasha in her dressing room. We chatted for quite some time, and she loved my fur coat. She is super sweet and we talked about my blog, fashion, her music, etc. After talking, Natasha had to change for the Boy Meets Girl after party at Avenue, so Ellen and I decided to meet her and her team there.  As I was leaving the backstage area, I came across singer Kat Deluna and chatted with her as well: Twitter friends!

As I was literally walking out the door, I came across the The Veronicas, who were so adorable and sweet: I’m also a big fan of their music!  When Ellen and I finally arrived at Avenue, we were seated at Natasha’s VIP table where I got to spend the evening with Natasha and her team which was so much fun: she’s so down to earth and sweet.  The music was amazing, everyone was dancing, and all eyes were on us.  I had an amazing night -from the fashion, to the people, to the music- and I am so excited that I’ve been able to attend such cool shows and network with such great people.

Sydney Goes To The Jimmy Choo Perfume Launch

In Beauty, Celebrities, Interview/Personal Appearance, On Location on February 9, 2011 at 4:03 PM

What do I do when I have a free during school?  I go to blog-worthy launches and events for products, designers, and celebrities that I am obsessed with.  A few weeks ago, I blogged about the then soon-to-be out Jimmy by Jimmy Choo Perfume.  Guess what?  Today was the launch of the perfume, and I was able to cover it.

The launch of the Jimmy by Jimmy Choo perfume took place on the beauty level -first floor- of Saks Fifth Avenue.  I had 45 minutes to get to Saks from the Upper East Side, get info on the product, take pictures, and make it back to class in one piece.  Mission accomplished.  When I arrived at Saks Fifth Avenue, there was a long camel carpet (the red-carpet aesthetic) for founder Tamara Mellon to walk down with her new fragrance.  All shoppers and staff gathered to see Tamara walk the carpet, and you could tell how thrilled and excited she was.

The beauty level was packed with hundreds of girls waiting to meet Tamara, so I knew I wouldn’t have time to wait and get my perfume signed.  However, I was able to get into the press-only area in which I was able to snap pictures of Tamara, who fashioned a cheetah dress –so on trend- and a bright orange clutch for a pop of color.

As I was taking pictures of Tamara, I was pleasantly surprised to see Gossip Girl star, Jessica Szhor, who I was also able to get shots of.  Jessica looked stunning in a classic white button down and black pants, with a shiny pink lip.  She was cute and playful while spritzing the perfume on her, and it was nice to watch.  I was noticeably the only non-papparazi taking pics of her, and I saw her smiling at me and then looking towards the bottom half of my outfit.  Well,  I finally realized what Jessica was looking at: my uniform skirt which was used in Gossip Girl when they were still in high school.  I have to say, it was pretty funny.

Also present at the launch of the perfume were models who were dressed up in adorable black dresses embellished with crystals and pink and black scarves, spraying the fragrance on customers who wanted a sniff of the scent.  The perfume was clearly a hit based on the amount of people that were there, and I am definitely a fan.  The perfume is available at Saks Fifth Avenue for $95.

I’ve had a great day today, and it just got even better.  It is Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC, one of my favorite weeks of the year, and I am pleased to announce that I will be covering some shows!  Get ready for a full coverage on the Jill Stuart show this weekend, and the Pamella Roland show next week, plus more: I can’t wait!

Kourtney & Kim Take New York

In Celebrities on January 24, 2011 at 6:10 PM

What an evening last night was!  The Steelers won against The Jets at Heinz Field, a devastating loss for New Yorkers, and are going to play in the Super Bowl in Dallas, Texas in just over a week.  In case you don’t know yet, the Black Eyed Peas are playing during halftime, which is going to be a great performance-so excited.  After the game that determined which team would be competing against the Green Bay Packers, the season premiere of a show that I have been looking forward to followed right after: Kourtney & Kim Take New York.

Goodbye California and Miami, and hello New York City: the oldest Kardashian sisters, minus one (Khloe), has taken the streets of The Big Apple.  The Kardashian’s are the most watched, loved, and obsessed with family on television, but specifically Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe.  How could you not be obsessed with the “Three Musketeers”?  You’ve got the gorgeous Armenian goddess, the mother/business woman, and the newly wed.  Somehow, you find yourself being able to relate to one of the sisters, whether that means pushing off a guy, having a baby with someone you’re not married to, or having curves, plus more.

There are a few outfits that Kourtney and Kim have either fashioned on last night’s premiere or have been seen wearing that I’ve either loved, or hated while in NYC.  On the left, you can see Kourtney fashioning this long and dramatic skirt topped off with a fur shrug and a high bun.  I have to say, not a great fashion moment for Kourt.  Kim, however, rocked the black pencil skirt with black feathers below, a simple white button-down, and a gold belt with black platforms.  Although Kim’s outfit is better, the sisters look a little too “cha-cha” for my liking.

In this photo, you can see a better, chic, and simple NYC street look.  Kourtney fashions a navy-blue double-breasted coat with knee-high boots and a bright purse.  Kim fashions an all-black outfit but adds some color with her camel Birkin and light-brown fur vest.

Kim and Kourtney haven’t made my top fashion list yet, but hopefully they will in the upcoming episodes of Kourtney & Kim Take New York, because I really do enjoy watching the sisters on E!  What do you think of Kim and Kourtney’s outfits?  Check out Kourtney & Kim Take New York on Sundays on E! at 10pm Eastern.

Who Wore It Best?

In Celebrities, Clothing on January 12, 2011 at 4:03 PM

The consequence of being a celebrity who wears the same outfit as another celebrity is being judged as to who wore it best.  It’s rare for two celebs to wear the same outfit if it’s by a high-end designer like Chanel or Christian Dior.  However, when celebs like Stephanie Pratt constantly wear brands like French Connection -which is less expensive and more commercial- it is more likely for them to be in US Magazine’s “who wore it best” section.

When I look at the “who wore it best” pages in magazines -which is one of my favorite sections-, sometimes one celeb looks amazing while the other doesn’t, neither look good or both look great.  As you can see above, author, designer, and reality star Nicole Richie and Greys Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo, dresses are styled quite similarly.  First of all, I love this Winter Kate -Nicole Richie’s clothing line- dress.  The dress is slenderizing, glamorous, fun, sophisticated, and unnoticeably sexy.  Why unnoticeably?  Because you can’t see it: the dress features a low draped back.  It’s the perfect combination of sophistication and sexy, and is great for a party for those of us who aren’t on the red carpet yet.

I think that the metallic mini is flattering on both Nicole and Ellen, but I think Nicole pulled the dress off the best.  It was smart for Nicole and Ellen to pair the mini with black tights since it’s Winter, but Nicole made the better shoe decision.  Although both wearing black, Nicole and Ellen are wearing different types of shoes: Nicole is fashioning patent leather pumps while Ellen seems to be fashioning a pair of suede tie-up booties.  Since they’re both on the red carpet and are wearing a dressier frock, pumps are more appropriate.

Lastly, I’m not a big fan of the way Ellen’s hair is styled.  Both of the celebs have bangs, but the way Ellen styled hers doesn’t look as good. If you’re going to put your hair up in a bun, I think it should have either a fully pulled back look, or a fully laid back/messier look.  Ellen seems to have a combination of both in her hair style, but I just don’t think it works, especially with this dress.  Ellen should have put all of her hair up, or kept all of her hair down: down would have been sexier.

Who’s Your Favorite Dash Doll?

Sydney Goes To Dash

In Celebrities, Clothing, Holiday, On Location on December 5, 2010 at 9:41 AM

The Upper East Side was a madhouse yesterday.  My mom and I were looking forward to a shopping day in the department stores because it was cold outside, but Bloomingdales (who had an iceskating rink made out of plastic which people could “skate” on), Barneys, and Bergdorfs were jammed packed.  We decided that it was time to leave our comfort zone and make our way down to Soho on Spring Street: I put on my fur vest, my cheetah Betsy Johnson hat, and we were off.

First, my mom and I went for a cheese platter and Spanish donuts dipped in chocolate sauce at a tapas bar where I spotted socialite and star of CW11’s High Society Tinsley Mortimer and boyfriend Brian Mazza, who were seated a table away from us.  Then we went into some cool vintage stores where I tried on some Chanel jewelry and fur coats.  From there we went to Topshop,-I bought the perfect dress for Miami and Palm Beach: I might even wear it on New Years- then Bloomingdales (the downtown one of course), and finally Dash.

If you’re going to a place that involves the Kardashian name, you need to be prepared for a line.  Outside the Dash store was a line of about 30 people, yet there were only about 10 people in the store.  It was freezing out, so my mom and I kept running into this cute gallery to look at art until the one hour line progressed.  When finally being let into the store, I was a bit disappointed: it looked like an Intermix wanna-be.  Dash carried all the same brands as everyone else like Alice and Olivia and Torn, so why wait in line for the same old stuff if I don’t have to at Intermix? Well, because it’s a Kardashian store.  I think that the girls should start a mini upscale collection of their own and sell it at the store so it brings some diversity.

There was some of their own brand in the store like their new book Kardashian Konfidential, water bottles, Kim’s perfume, etc.  Most of the shoppers didn’t want to spend money on merchandise, so the only smart thing the store did was have a bag that you could purchase for $15 which had a Dash water bottle and candle in it.  It is said that the store makes $50,000-$100,000 a day, but I don’t believe that because the only thing that was being purchased in the store were those $15 bags.

Overall, my “downtown day” was a success: lunch/snack was delicious, the shopping was good, and going into to Dash was worth it.

Millionaire Matchmaker Star In Reality

In Celebrities, Interview/Personal Appearance on December 1, 2010 at 4:00 PM

While waiting impatiently to meet the Kardashians, I noticed a familiar face, and I pin-pointed who it was instantly.  If you’re a Millionaire Matchmaker fan, you know exactly who I’m talking about: the outgoing, effortlessly chic, and Botox-loving millionaire, David Yontef.

David informed me that his episode is the highest rated (so far) in all of the Millionaire Matchmaker shows-such a funny episode! Pretty great, right?  Maybe it’s because Patti Stanger brought in a make-up specialist from Saturday Night Live to transform David into a physically gross person.  Patti did this because she was concerned that David judges potential men based on physical appearance first.  Patti wanted David to start accepting people for their inner qualities.

Although Millionaire Matchmaker is one of my favorite shows, (I’m obsessed with Patti’s appalling yet totally entertaining behavior) Patti definitely makes these millionaires seem different then they are in real life.  In person, David was a cool, nice, funny, fashionable guy, yet those great qualities weren’t portrayed as much on the show.

At the Kardashian book apperance,  David fashioned an effortlessly chic outfit: a baby pink cashmere sweater, dark gray jeans, his signature eye-glasses, a Louis Vuitton key pouch (I had a Louis Vuitton bag on, so we kind of matched), and to top it off, (which I loved) a mixture of pink and gray Silly Bandz which gave the outfit some playful fun.

It was great meeting David, and his personality definitely comes out not only through conversation, but from his outfits as well.  Check out the Millionaire Matchmaker on Tuesdays at 9:00 pm Eastern on Bravo.

Spotted: The Kardashians and Gossip Girl Cast

In Celebrities on November 30, 2010 at 2:38 PM

What a day today was!  Here was my original plan: get up, go to math class, change my clothes (into my Torn by Ronny Kobo (from Intermix) Chanel-looking jacket), and meet Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian.  Some of the plan was accomplished while other parts were not, but boy were there exciting add ons that I least expected.

As I walked in the door of my building, I noticed a familiar (gorgeous) face, one that looked so familiar.  It was Kevin Zegers, aka Damien, Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) from Gossip Girl‘s drug dealer ex-boyfriend.  I turned the other way, and there was the majority of the cast (Blake Lively, Kevin Zegers, Leighton Meester, Connor Paola, and my favorite Chace Crawford) shooting for a new episode.  I was able to get snapshots of some of the cast while filming.

(In photo: Kourtney Kardashian). Although I was tempted to stay at the Gossip Girl filming, I had to run off to the Kardashian book signing for the sister’s new book, Kardashian Konfidential, which was my main priority of the day.  I’ve gone to book signings before at this specific Barnes and Nobles location on 46th and 5th (like when I went to the Rihanna one), and every person in line always had the ability to meet the author.  I even bought my book in advance, yet after 200 people, no one else was able to meet the Kardashians, one of which was me.  Even though it was extremely frustrating that I wouldn’t be able to meet the sisters, I was able to see them walk in and take some photos of them (which mostly came out blurry) while meeting one of the millionaires from Millionaire Matchmaker (I will be blogging about him tomorrow).  Despite the lack of organization at this book signing, the sisters looked beautiful and I am still Kardashian obsessed and love their book.  The book is a walk into their lives and has an amazing chapter called Stylin which talks about each of the girl’s advice on how to dress, their must-haves, a dress-to-impress shopping checklist, how to organize your closet, rules of style, and how to strike a pose – it’s great. The book is $28.99 and is available at Barnes and  Noble.

Today was a hectic yet fun day, and it was so exciting to get a glimpse of the Kardashians and  Gossip Girl Cast.  Don’t forget that tonight is the lighting of the Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center.  Catch the Lighting on NBC tonight at 8:00 PM.

Sydney Meets Rihanna

In Celebrities, Interview/Personal Appearance on October 27, 2010 at 3:08 PM

I needed my “Umbrella” today when meeting singer of ‘Only Girl (In The World)‘, Rihanna, at her book signing.  Hundreds of fans, including me, stood in line for at least two hours at Barnes and Nobles on 46th and 5th to meet, take pictures, and get a signature from Rihanna: she was fashioning an adorable floral dress. The long line was worth the wait.

The book, called Rihanna, features 144 “steamy” pictures of her in concert, hanging around, designing, taking photos for her album covers, being chased by paparazzi, eating, and my favorite, a peek of her shoe closet full of Louboutin’s and her collection of cuff bracelets.  The photography and concept, created by Simon Henwood, is truly amazing and is a perfect coffee table book for those interested in fashion, photography, and are a Rihanna fan.

When I met Rihanna, I got to ask her what her favorite fashion trend is this season.  She said, and wrote on my signed book, “hair accessories.”  Although not fashioning any today, she is constantly seen wearing a variety of headbands, hats and more.

It was so fun meeting Rihanna today.  She’s cool, nice, beautiful, fashionable, and a definite trendsetter.

Rihanna is available at bookstores but can also be found on Amazon.com.  Hardcovers are $50 and soft covers are $30.

Get your “Umbrella” out when going to purchase this great book  today, because “It’s Rainin’

2010 Teen Design Fair With Tim Gunn

In Celebrities, Interview/Personal Appearance on October 12, 2010 at 11:59 PM

If you’re a teen who is interested in any type of design – whether it be product, fashion, or architecture (just to name a few) – being at the 2010 Teen Design Fair run by the Cooper-Hewitt Museum at the Altman Building this afternoon is a must.  This event is the kickoff for National Design Week and is hosted by Project Runway co-host Tim Gunn.

The  Teen Design Fair is like a scavenger hunt for those interested in design.  It’s your chance to walk around a room full of over 30 professionals in the fields of fashion, industrial design, architecture, multimedia, graphic design, and more to communicate with the people that are the best in their industry and get advice that is priceless.

Professionals that were at the event included Tim Gunn (Chief Officer at Liz Claiborne Inc., co-host of my favorite TV show Project Runway, author of Gunn’s Golden Rules: Life’s Little Lessons For Making It Work, and more), Cynthia Rowley (fashion designer), Jacki Easlick (previous fashion director for Kenneth Cole and designer for Vera Bradley and now currently independent handbag designer), and Jeff Silva (senior designer for Johnson&Johnson).  I had the opportunity to speak with each of these professionals and got tips/advice that I think is worth everyone knowing.

Talking to Tim was great; he listed the ‘must haves’ for every girl’s closet and store alternatives to finding pieces that look expensive but are sold for less.  Tim suggests stores such as H&M and Forever21 but also said “you can find things that are less expensive at stores like J.Crew and find sales.”  Tim suggests (as wardrobe essentials) the following: blazer, black dress, day dress, pant, class shirt, trenchcoat, jeans, cashmere sweater, and a sweatsuit.

I’ve given you advice directly from Tim Gunn.  Make it work.
