Dolce Vita Nolita

In Accessories, Clothing, Shoes on January 22, 2013 at 8:47 AM

Towards the land of some of Manhattan’s best and most authentic pasta, cannoli, and other Italian food specialities is the home of Dolce Vita‘s flagship store in Nolita (aka Little Italy).

The rustic-chic store, located at 255 Elizabeth Street, is comprised of racks stocked to the brim, currently in favor of those in need of a resort-wear wardrobe boost, the brand’s footwear collection and even cute accessories to go along with them. The cool layout makes shopping fun around the store’s perimeter, especially due to all of the colorful options in both solids and patterns.

And not to mention, get a little energy along your shopping way with mini Luna Bars by the store’s seating area.

Buckle Up

In Shoes on October 8, 2012 at 1:06 AM

Buckle up Style Solutions readers, because this season’s footwear trends will make your rack o’shoes haute and heavy. Buckles, stacked-heel style, are making their way back from the Plymouth Colony days thanks to fashion-crush Marc Jacobs. He brought the trend to his fall/winter 2012 runway, securing buckled shoes in accessory hierarchy. For those who prefer a more feminine aesthetic, don’t let this menswear-inspired style intimidate you from trying a pair–you can simply combine them with chunky and glamorous costume jewelry galore and girly silhouettes to create a hard/soft effect on the eye. Below are some of my favorites.

For The Love of Valentino!

In Shoes on October 1, 2012 at 1:22 AM

There’s a whole lot of Valentino to love, especially when it comes to their Fall/Winter 2012 shoe collection. This season, the fashion house returns with their darling and edgy studded designs, offering the perfect play on delightfully elegant silhouettes in beige, black, red, and zebra print. The rockstudded shoes are particularly popular this season. They’ve been spotted everywhere, from on the streets in New York and spreads in magazines to fashion bloggers and celebrities.

The shoes start at $645 and topping off above $1,000. The shoes are a definite splurge–big time. But, you’ll definitely stand out in the crowd while keeping your feet blister-free (one would hope) and obviously chic.

Below are my favorites.

Sunday Accessory Lusts

In Accessories, Shoes on September 16, 2012 at 5:12 PM

There are some pieces that exceed the limit, but there’s no harm in “window” shopping, is there?

Well, maybe if you’re an actual shopaholic, but above are some of my favorite accessories that I’m lusting over on this gorgeous pre-fall afternoon.

The Bijoux Heart ring is an exclusive to, which definitely makes it unique–a conversation starter. The Mulberry booties are from the “Where the Wild Things Are” inspired FW12 collection, which look super comfortable and warm for some brisk days to come.

The Stella necklace is a cool way to add a tongue-in-cheek element to your everyday portfolio while the Christopher Kane popping-print clutch is a funky way to add elements of colorful and animal prints to your outfits.

What are you lusting over?

Plaid is becoming the leader of trends for fall/winter. I can’t wait for some chilly fall days to mix and match these update classics, especially warm button down shirts with leggings, booties, and an oversized tote.

The print is continuously growing up from its school-girl days (believe me, I was one of them) and is becoming a cool, edgy, and must-have print. Whether worn via a shirt, scarf, shoes, handbag, or jeans, there are many ways to implement pops of plaid into your wardrobe. I own the AG Jeans above and am looking forward to playing around with them and making them perhaps even edgier with the help of some sexy shoes and chunky accessories.

Plaid prints, I’m all yours. Are you ready to shop the trend?

Make A Wish, Aldo!

In Shoes on September 1, 2012 at 1:31 PM

Dreams do come true, darlings…especially in the world of haute fashion collaborations. Aldo is celebrating its 40th birthday this fall and decided to mark the milestone with flare. That’s right, FLAREthe slightly younger fashion powerhouse and Canadian based magazine that the mega shoe brand has collaborated with for a capsule collection. Hot on the heels are four lust-worthy pieces that will say sexy, practical, and colorful. I wish I could get my hands on these shoes and handbags to wear them at NYFW this week–by the way, so, so excited. A guide to Fashion’s Night Out and full-on NYFW coverage starting Thursday.

The collection was designed by fashion director of FLARE, Elizabeth Cabral. The handbags are limited-edition, and the burgundy heel (loving this fall hue) is perfect for daytime, while the black shoe is great for evening. The shoes look effortlessly elegant, and there’s no doubt in mind that it took lots of attention to detail to make this collaboration so desirable.

All items will be available online and in Aldo stores this month, but until then enjoy the snapshots below.

The College Wardrobe Necessities

In Accessories, Clothing, Shoes on August 26, 2012 at 3:43 PM

Rebecca Minkoff Blair Clutch $350

The first of many tests that you’ll face this college semester? Packing your wardrobe! Space is limited, so it’s super critical to edit your wardrobe down to the essentials (and maybe a few extra special items just for the heck of it).

One of the most important things to keep in mind is that you won’t have time to change every day before going out at night. You want easy, accessible, versatile, and trendy pieces that are still somewhat basic and fit your personal style. Staples like the chambray shirt for pairing with everything from a pencil skirt and jeans to a dress via jacket vibe, a pair of flats for running around your dorm and classes, a sexy dress for those nights that require a pair of heels, a cocktail ring for any outfit that needs some glam, and a clutch are key items to focus on.

These pieces will fit right inside your closet and continue to reappear throughout the year with the help of some different styling methods, makeup, and accessories.  Ace it!

Flats…a rarity to be found on this fashionista, but the handful that I do own are almost all from Stubbs & Wootton. Slipper haven it is, in every color and print a woman and man could desire. What’s just as exciting is the end of the year blowout sale, plus the new collection for fall. And this season, the brand has returned yet again with new slippers that make going sockless in the winter completely worth it. Above are some of my favorite styles from the fall collection, reminiscent of all of the season’s hautest trends–plaid, animal prints, green hues, and more. But really, what other brand could you find shoes that are embroidered with “F” “U”, political party symbols, and a screw and “U”?  None that I know of!

Ready to take a Stubb at it? Dare you!

Polka Dot Palooza

In Accessories, Clothing, Shoes on July 27, 2012 at 12:00 AM

I’ve recently been going through this semi-awkward phase in my wardrobe where I don’t feel like constantly wearing summer clothes. I’ve been leaning towards pieces that are year round classics, and can be spiced up with mini doses of summer trends like neons and pastels via shoes and accessories. So, I’m adoring prints more than ever, and polka dots are spot-on with my wearabouts. Whether large or small in size, polka dots add a simple and feminine aspect to your wardrobe, whether you’re hitting the Hamptons for the weekend or a vacation in Paris. And if you haven’t taken a stab at the print since let’s say..I don’t know..when you were a little girl, be one of the first to bring it back.

Pop Goes My Heart

In Accessories, Beauty, Clothing, Shoes on July 21, 2012 at 12:00 AM

Pop art has always had a place in my heart.

My mother’s side of the family is from Pittsburgh, PA, the home of Andy Warhol, so I’ve spent time at his museum, indulging in his bright colors, interpretations of iconic people, and overall unique style. I also adore the work of Roy Lichtenstein, another pop art icon.

This era of art seems to be making a mark on the fashion trends, a “come back”, thanks to the likes of Phillip Lim, Lulu Guinness, and more. Even less expensive brands like Topshop and ASOS have taken a stab at the coolness, too.

The colors, abstract images, designs, and old-school yet super cool vibe makes me love all of the pop art-inspired fashion galore. From iPhone cases and kitsch soaps to cosmetic cases, sweaters (think fall), glittery nail polish, bold clutches and then some, the options are endless.

So, indulge in my favorites below.

From left to right: Andy Warhol Brooch $115, 3.1 Phillip Lim T-shirt $220, Lulu Guinness Clutch $390, Topshop Fresh Soap $10, ASOS Necklace $8, 3.1 Phillip Lim PVC and Leather Pouch $375, Topshop Scrub Soap $10, Stella McCartney Sandals $364, Campbell’s Soup Earrings $8, Topshop  Sweater $76, Marc Jacobs Perfume $88, Bond No. 9 Perfume $180, Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish $20, iPhone Case $14

All Hail Miu Miu

I absolutely adore Miu Miu this season. From classic dresses and embellished shoes to sparkly sunglasses and playful earrings, Miu Miu has kept us fashionistas gladly entertained. Plus, there is a rather large use of color, most noticeable in the cheery accessories. Miu Miu’s over-the-top silhouettes and patterns also make the line simply irresistable. Although the brand is pricey, it’s sale season, so you can snag your favorite Miu Miu galore at a much (but not too much) better price.

Whether you’ve read the first book of the trilogy page-by-page like me, or read all about the obsession via online, your local newspaper, or on TV, you can tell that Fifty Shades of Grey is the talk of the town–globally. I recently read that Fifty Shades of Grey clothing, makeup, lingerie and house-ware products are in the works. Monday Cravings

passover macaroons

There’s nothing like a Monday after an extended holiday weekend. For one it makes the start of the week even busier than usual, and it also makes a week without an extra day off feel longer!

However, I’m heading to Las Vegas later in the week, so I have something to look forward to…but there is so much to do before then! I’ve already been brainstorming on what to bring, pieces that are sexy and full of colors, cutouts and embellishments.

Until then, I am craving these three items: Passover macaroons with chocolate drizzle, limited-editon Aldo colour block sandals, and Eres nail lacquers.

Macaroons are a delicious and easy dessert to make for the holiday. It’s fun to experiment with flavors, like raspberry, chocolate, and salted caramel, each one fulfilling a particular tastebud.

aldo eakins colour block sandals

These Aldo sandals scream Vegas with the black fringe, patch worked textures and pops of color. With a sexy straight leg pant and sequin blouse, a tuxedo short, or a tight dress, these shoes are classic while still funky and cool.

eres nail lacquers

I love a good nail polish, so I was very happy to hear that ultra-glam bathing suit company Eres came out with these nail lacquers. I love the juicy fruity hues and look forward to trying them out on both my fingernails and toenails–orange first! Talk about nailing it!

PS: I found this recipe for peep s’mores– definitely have to indulge after Passover!

Coachella is one of the most popular music festivals around the world–I look at it as the west coast version (it’s in California) of Ultra Music Festival. It’s full of bloggers, celebs, music junkies and of course talent, making it the place to be. The lineup is incredible, including David Guetta, Radio Head, The Black Keys and Avicii. The key to getting your groove on while still looking concert-chic is wearing light pieces that protect you from the sun, (it takes place outside) incorporating pops of color, and being comfortable. Above are my favorites.

Elegant Table Tops and Mint Green Shoes

In Shoes on March 13, 2012 at 12:04 AM

Over the delightfully warm weekend, I headed to Bergdorf Goodman with my mom for some frozen yogurt topped with graham cracker crumbs, blueberries, and raspberries. Although we love to shop on 5F, the contemporary level, was also enjoy browsing the home decor floor. There are always kitsch decorative items, interesting coffee table books, silverware, candles, furniture, goodies and more. We came across this beautifully set table top that looks like The Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge…meets Breakfast At Tiffanys…meets Palm Beach soiree–anything with elegance. I love the splashes of pink, green, and white. It’s so spring and makes me want to get all dressed up for a tea party with friends. I also adore the serving cart on the side with charming ice-cream dishes, silver tea pots and beautiful plates. I love a floral table setting, especially at this time of year.

This lovely table top reminds me of one of my favorite shoes this season, Stuart Weitzman’s Capsize. I love the modern twist on the traditional Mary Jane with the pastel mint green hue and metallic silver point. With a light pink or white dress, a dangling earring and a clutch, you’ll be good to go for a Spring luncheon in no time.

Flower Power With Simon Doonan

In Accessories, Clothing, Shoes on January 18, 2012 at 12:13 AM

1. H&M $8, 2. Topshop $60, 3. Oasis $35, 4. Alexander McQueen $275, 5. ASOS $36, 6. Paul & Joe $350 7. Stolen Girlfriends Club $396, 8. BCBG $68, 9. ASOS $81, 10. Opening Ceremony $278, 11. Nicole Miller $325, 12. Dr. Martens $50

Women fashioning men’s clothes has been a major trend, thanks to brands like A.P.C and Rag & Bone. It’s been all about boyfriend blazers, boyfriend jeans, and military-inspired ensembles. But with 2012 unveiling the newest trends, it seems as though there’s going to be a return to a long-gone glamorous femininity with some fabulous flower power.

There won’t be any borrowing from the boys this season, darlings. Instead, we’ll be wearing chic pastels with floral prints that are tropical-inspired, ethnic-inspired, art-inspired, and more. Although our silhouettes might be a bit more girly than usual, we can still fashion our undeniable edge by creating outfits that combine what’s street-chic and our own personal style.

About two weekends ago, I was browsing the home floor of Barneys with my mom. We came across Simon Doonan signing his new book Gay Men Don’t Get Fat at his personal appearance. I was rushing out and didn’t have time to chat, but I did manage to get a shot of him on my iPhone in a fabulous multicolored floral button-down. He aced the trend while still making it “him” with a dark yet colorful tie and jacket. Like I always say, it’s all about looking hard and soft at the same time. Take Simon’s floral look as inspiration for a possible upcoming investment.

Above is my favorite mix of high and low floral galore. Whether you start with a clothing item, a shoe, or accessory, it’s always fun to experiment and add trendy pieces to your closet.

A Little This, A Little That

In Accessories, Clothing, Shoes on January 15, 2012 at 12:01 AM

1. Roberta Chiarella Sensatior $148, 2. Vince $395, 3. Prada $225, 4. Forever 21 $20, 5. Zara $100

The trends keep rolling out. So far, I’m loving each and every one of them. It seems as though I cannot go into a store without trying something on or making a purchase. The collections are better than ever, designers and low-end brands going all-out with trendy pieces that make us feel like we just walked off the catwalk at Fashion Week.

That’s the beauty of mixing high and low pieces; there’s dimension.

One trend that I’m loving right now is a splash of tangerine. Crisp, bright, sassy, sexy, and glamorous, having a few tangerine pieces in your closet is an absolute must. I do not suggest wearing more than one or two tangerine pieces at once, unless you take the colour-block route which is so darling. Above are my favorite tangerine pieces; I love how the less expensive items look just as great as those that are expensive. By the way, the Zara shoes are on sale-I’d definitely make a move. If you’re not feeling a tangerine clothing item or accessory, you can always substitute with a tangerine shade of lipgloss for a pop of color.

1. Gorjana Graham $55, 2. Jagger Edge $109, 3. Jeffrey Campbell $170, 4. Zara $10, 5. Furla $248, 6. Low Luv by Erin Wasson $40, 7. Sam Edelman $275, 8. R&Em $34

On an edgier note, I’m also loving the punk accessory trend; perfect for spicing up a basic outfit. Whether you go for a funky clutch, spiked heels, lacy gloves, or stud embellished anything, you’ll ace the trend in no time. Keeping your clothes sophisticated and elegant combined with these accessories will give you a balanced soft meets hard look.

Even if these trends are outside of your comfort zone, it’s always worth while to go to a store you like with brands you feel comfortable in and try on some pieces in a dressing room.

Fashion is all about experimenting and exploring your options, and there are never too many. Even if you don’t make a purchase, you learn more about your likes and dislikes. The worst case is you walk out of the store with the same amount of money you walked in with and one less shopping back to carry. Not too bad, right?

Pastel Guide

In Accessories, Beauty, Clothing, Shoes on January 9, 2012 at 8:32 AM

If starting a whole new section in my wardrobe took about the same amount of time as creating a virtual wardrobe on the internet, I’d first rush to pastels. The trend is quickly making its way to the fashioniverse, becoming more and more apparent in editorials, department store windows, and so on. My love for pastels grew when browsing Barneys and Bergdorfs over the weekend.

Pastels are said to be the new neon come Spring (although I’ll never give neons up). Pastels definitely scream “girly” to me; I don’t know if it’s the colors themselves or the fact that many women in Palm Beach over Easter tend to wear anything and everything pastel. Probably a combination of both.

Pastels can be worn beautifully if fashioned the right way. I would not wear more than two pastels in the same outfit, but I would mix them with your edgier pieces to create a soft and hard play on the eyes. Below are my favorite pastels that can easily be mixed and matched with basic pieces that you most likely already own.

J Brand jeans, Acne sweater, Dior eyeshadow, Dior lipgloss, Dior nail polish, Equipment blouse, Bobbi Brown eyeshadow, Topman socks

Dannijo bangles, ASOS earrings, DSW flats, Steve Madden platforms, ASOS belt, ASOS handbag, Amomuito earrings, Modcloth wedges

Bananas For Brian Atwood

Pink Lorrina Suede High-Heel Sandal

That’s right fashionistas, ankle straps are in!  Who said you can’t wear a stylish strappy sandal once the weather turns cold?  It might not be my go-to shoe for daytime, but it certainly will be an option for nighttime.  I always love to quote Rachel Zoe with her desire for lots of options because she is so right.  When putting an outfit together, it’s doubtful that you’ll wear the first shoe you pick out in your closet–you probably try on a couple of pairs before making that final decision.

Whenever I wear a Brian Atwood shoe, it always seems to make my outfit look just right.  The sexiness, colors, aesthetic, and fierceness of Atwood’s shoes make him one of the most beloved shoe designers in the fashion biz.

Brian Atwood

Brian Atwood’s shoes tend to be pricey, so he came out with a “less” expensive line (unfortunately still rather expensive, but better) called B Brian Atwood.  When I was at Saks last week, I came across a pair of super chic B Brian Atwood ‘Lorrina Suede High-Heel [strappy] Sandals‘ that made me go bananas.

Orange Lorrina Suede High-Heel Sandal

Coming in a variety of colors such as pink, orange, purple, and black, these sandals are sophisticated yet sexy and are the perfect pop of color.  Brights are completely in this season, so I’m thinking of going with the pink or orange since they will look great with anything from a sparkly dresses to skinny pants, and even for cruise, which is scarily not too far away.

I’m so ready to slip my feet into these B’s!

Yes or No? You Pick.

In Shoes on November 10, 2011 at 7:18 AM

One day it’s snowing, another day it’s 70 degrees; and to top it all off, we’re in November. Aren’t we supposed to be in heavy winter jackets, snow boots, cute earmuffs, and more?  Instead, while New Yorkers are fashioning light jackets and anything but a snow boot, stores around the city (like Ralph Lauren, the King of Madison Ave displays) are already putting up their Christmas windows.  It’s shocking that it’s getting to be that time of year, especially since I feel like we’re more in spring/summer than fall/winter.

Until it’s time to get out my boots again, I’m enjoying wearing my Stubbs & Wootton flats for the time being.  Yes they are flats.  No this does not mean they are a replacement for a fab pair of heels.  I own a handful of Stubbs, and I know to purchase them at the end-of-the-season sale in August in Southampton.  My Stubbs range from skulls, stars, and trees to solid colors.

For the past month, I’ve been passing the Stubbs & Wootton store and have been eyeing this one pair every single day.  They are the Yes/No black velvet slippers, and they are honestly calling my name.  First off, velvet is extremely popular right now, and I love a good texture shoe.  Secondly, the yes/no looks and just is so cool.  The colors -red and green- are bold and fun, and they go into the holiday season without looking too Christmasy.  And hey, instead of responding to yes or no questions, all I need to do is tap a foot like Dorthy from The Wizard of Oz style.

I hate to purchase Stubbs if they’re not on sale, but this is one pair that I can’t pass up.  Every month, I save up for a fashionable treat, so I decided to purchase this pair.  However, they are now on back order and they won’t arrive on my doorstep until December 1st–counting down the days, literally.  Until then, all I can do is dream about what I’ll pair these shoes with, although I’m sure I’ll be wearing them with everything for the first few weeks of ownership.  I do, though, have a certain look in mind.

A LBD, black tights, a black fedora, black and crystal tassel earrings, a green bowling bag to bring out the green from the YES shoe, and black rectangular shades.  Simple, elegant, wearable, and suitable for many occasions.

I’m heading up to Ithaca this afternoon for a few days–time to clear my mind, enjoy some relaxation, and possibly whip out a [faux] fur jacket and snow boots.

The Mary Jane

In Shoes on September 22, 2011 at 4:41 PM

What’s this season’s hottest shoe?  The Mary Jane, a total comeback style, which is making the perfect grand entrance.  I was never a fan of Mary Jane shoes because I thought they were rather boring; not enough pizazz. However, with Nine West‘s updated look on this classic silhouette, I’ve become absolutely obsessed, going on Nine West’s website everyday waiting for the shoes to become available.

How has Nine West updated this old-style shoe?  With colorful snakeskin prints and rich suede for a bold yet feminine look.  These shoes will make you forget about Louboutins (of course only for a little bit though since Loubs. are irreplaceable) and make you a Nine West fanatic.  The company came out with four different styles, but my favorite is the “AROUNDTOWN” shoe.

The suede “AROUNDTOWN” Mary Jane’s are good basics to add to your shoe collection.  The three color options are spot on chic -dark pink, teal, and black- and will act as your outfit’s pop of color.  You obviously can’t go wrong with the black shoe, but I suggest going for the dark pink because it will look great with camels, browns, blacks, navy blues…almost all of the neutral-like shades.

Even though I adore the suedes, I am madly in love with the teal/grey snakeskin Mary Jane’s.  Hot, sexy, fierce, colorful, bold, fun, feminine; you name it.  These shoes are trendsetters, and I won’t be able to get through fall without them.  They will look fabulous with anything from a pair of black trousers with a classic button down to a sexy tight dress.  Basically, you can wear these shoes for work, and for play.

Set Your Alarms For Missoni

Ever since I was little, I’ve had a major obsession with Missoni.  My grandmother was one of those women who always had to have the latest Pucci or Missoni print, so I’ve been left many that are although years old, look perfectly brand new.  Missoni is one of those brands that I can simply say is so me because everything is truly colorful (and I love color).  If only Missoni was half less expensive, I would be shopping the brand 24/7.

Tomorrow is my chance -the day I’ve been waiting for-, and yours as well.  Missoni lovers, set your alarms extra early for tomorrow morning, and don’t even dare to press snooze, because Missoni For Target will be available.  Now’s your chance to shop the legendary brand at a price that you can afford.

Every time I browse the online lookbook, I want everything more and more: the bike, the clothes, the shoes, the pillows, the dishes, the accessories, the everything: 400 items to be exact.  Everything is going to go quickly, so be sure to buy enough of what you love without hesitation because this is a major fashion moment.

Where Has Summer Gone?

In On Location, Shoes on August 26, 2011 at 12:26 PM

Sitting on my grandmother’s recliner chair in Pittsburgh, PA, in my American Apparel black shorts and a Harvard t-shirt, I’m thinking about how fast summer has gone by.  Yes there are two more weekends left, but it almost feels like summer is just starting, not ending.  What reminds me that this is undoubtly a fantasy rather than a reality is hurricane Irene, as hurricanes seem to make a grand entrance when summer comes to an end.

The Hamptons is noticeably my favorite summer spot, but there are those moments when I feel like I need a break, and to go somewhere where I can just be carefree.  That’s when I planned to come visit my family in Pittsburgh, PA, which I consider a hometown visit.  Although Pittsburgh is a city, there’s a very tight knit and home towny vibe.

This morning, I decided to get up early, put on my workout clothes, and take a walk outside as the weather was absolutely gorgeous (low 70s).  My destination?  Starbucks for an iced latte, and then this cute coffee shop for a warm blueberry bagel.  That’s the thing about Pittsburgh; since it’s a college town, there are tons of coffee shops.

Whenever I visit, which is not that often, I have this crazy obsession for chains (restaurants and stores).  One of them is Target, and the store here is huge.  I especially like the beauty department because it has every product imaginable.  A food chain that I’m always craving when I’m here is Panera; I have an obsession with the chocolate chip bagels.

In addition to my silly chain whereabouts, I love browsing the local stores like Littles Shoes in Squirrel Hill (a great assortment of boots), and Choices in Shadyside, which is kind of like Pittsburgh’s version of Intermix but way overpriced.  I do my major shopping at Nordstrom as it is big, and full of a great assortment of clothes and shoes.  I’m heading there tomorrow, and I already have a shoe in mind, which is not available at Littles.  It’s Tory Burch’s Stella Pump, an oxford pump, in which color blocking accents a chunky heel.  The shoe is suede, and is designed with decorative lace which may be removed for a more streamlined look.

Although a bit pricey, I think it’s ok to splurge on one or two shoes a season, and especially for winter as it is the longest season of the year.  Paired with skinny dark blue jeans, a burgundy sweater, and a cute black (faux) fur vest, you’ll have a perfect fall outfit.

TOMS and The Row

In Shoes on August 10, 2011 at 4:08 PM

The more I look around, the more fall I see.  It’s almost as if the real world and the “shopping world” are completely different.  You can walk into Bloomingdales, which is freezing cold with blasting air-conditioning, and get into the fall mode, having the urge to try on that adorable fall item because even though it’s not time to wear it, you’re scared it will sell out by the time you are.  Then you walk outside and it’s sweltering, and the only thing you have interest in is getting your hands on an iced drink pronto.

As much as I am trying to convince myself that summer isn’t almost over, the merchandise in clothing and shoe stores are making me so tempted to get my hands on whatever I feel is going to be hot for fall.  Instead of rushing to go buy these items now, I’m trying to wait for at least one more week.  Until then, I’m creating my “Fall Fashion Wish List”, so that I can keep track of what I want, and from where I want.

One item on my wish list is a pair of limited edition TOMS, which collaborated with the Olsen Twin’s, The Row. This means TOMS is going chic, and I’m dying to get my hands on a pair.  Made with cashmere and italian wool, this new collaboration is the key to getting me to invest in a pair (this will be my first).  There are three shoes in the collection:

The Row’s Larry Classics ($150)

The Row’s Alexandria Classics ($140)

The Row’s Hayden Classics ($140)

I’m thinking of going for the Alexandria; it’s classic, simple and chic-you can’t go wrong with black.  Which pair are you eyeing?  Whichever one you choose, you’ll be fashioning the hottest TOMS in town.

Tuesday Shoe Day

Shoes, shoes, shoes!  A girl just can’t get enough.  Pumps, wedges, espadrilles, flats, clogs, sandals; there are so many to choose from.  I find my shoe obsession comes out most during the summer.  Maybe it’s because I feel limited to boots in the colder months, most of which are either black or brown.  However, summertime allows us to bring out our most colorful and funky shoe; even if that means it’s rainbow.  I’ve come across four pairs of shoes today that I think are absolutely fabulous.  Take a look.

Jimmy’s Back

In Shoes on June 26, 2011 at 3:32 PM

It’s a gorgeous day in the Hamptons!  Lounging outside on my terrace in a pair of Juicy Couture terrycloth shorts, a tank top, Lacoste sunglasses, and my Chanel hot pink jelly flip-flops define a perfectly laid-back afternoon outfit while hanging out at home in the Hamptons.  No running around, no platform pumps, no loads of makeup; just comfortable, easy, and casual attire.

It feels great to finally sit down this afternoon with my laptop in lap, magazines under my feet, and sparkling water infused with peaches in hand, as this weekend was quite a busy one.  Because my weekend took me everywhere from a pool party to a fancy dinner, I found myself wearing lots of rompers because I needed outfits that transitioned well from day to night.  For shoes, I fashioned my nude Louboutin platform pumps; however, I felt more like wearing a sexy wedge, one in the style of those from Jimmy Choo.

For those who summer in the Hamptons and are upset about Saks Fifth Avenue closing, our ability to shop Jimmy Choo in Southampton is back.  Jildor, my go-to store for shoes ranging from Jack Rogers, to Prada, to Converse, now has a large selection of Jimmy Choos.

The most popular shoes being purchased from the Jimmy Choo collection At Jildor (customers mainly Jimmy Choo devotees), are the wedges and nude shoes.  The wedges come in different heights and colors.  My favorite shoe is the nude patent-leather slingback peep-toe wedge because it’s classic, sexy, and can be used to dress up or dress down an outfit.

So go out and find that perfect nude wedge for youself, whether by Jimmy Choo or a less expensive brand, and you’ll have a classic go-to shoe for all of your adorable summer outfits.

With Style,

Fresh and Sweet

No matter how much a girl might have in her closet, she will still experience a day when she feels like she has nothing to wear.  Today, I was that girl.  It wasn’t about what clothes, handbags, or jewelry I should wear, but it was about what shoes I should wear.  It’s not that I had some extraordinarily challenging outfit to match my shoes to, but it felt almost impossible to find the “perfect” ones.

My shoes are divided between my NYC home and my Hampton home, and the collections that I have in each are rather different from one another.  My NYC collection is full of darker, simpler, and sophisticated shoes.  For example, my BCBG black wedges, Sam Edelman nude gladiators, and needle-point Stubbs & Wooton slippers.  In the Hamptons, my collection is more fun and bright: pink Chanel jelly flats and sea-shell embellished Jack Rogers, just to name a few.

I realized after 15 minutes (what felt like an eternity) the type of shoe I was missing in my city collection: a metallic sandal.  I wanted to wear a bright, fun, and bold shoe today, clearly something that I was lacking.  I’m going to LA in July, so my mom has been printing out various articles on new stores or places she thinks that I should shop while there.  One of the stores is Opening Ceremony (a brand that I own and love), so I decided to check out their website.

I immediately clicked the ‘shoe’ section because I needed a Style Solution today myself!  I came across an amazing pair of sandals that I absolutely must have for summer.  The sandals are by K. Jacques for Opening Ceremony, and are the perfect option for those who want a bright, metallic, sexy, and girly shoe.  I’m obsessed with the color combo -rose, gold, and mint- because they compliment each other beautifully.

The corvette 2-strap sandals ($270) will look elegant and summery with a mint blouse, nude shorts, a rose tote, a rose and crystal watch, rose aviators, and a crystal ring; even go for mint-green nails!

Love For YSL

In Accessories, Shoes on June 14, 2011 at 4:56 PM

Yves saint Laurent was a designer that I’ve loved and adored for years.  Between fashioning some of his older works, and admiring some of his newer works, Laurent is one of the greatest names in fashion history.

The YSL brand is classic, cool, hip, and trendy.  YSL’s clothes are extraordinarily beautiful, but my love goes more towards the shoes and bags, and more recently the jewelry too.  My grandma has some amazing YSL jackets from the 70s that I wear ever-so-often, and my favorite is a black blazer with military-esq shoulders, and three large gold antique-looking buttons going down the middle: it is a chic all year round basic.

My favorite YSL shoes right now are the Tribute Sandals.  Coming in a variety of colors like green, purple, black, and red, these are some of the hottest shoes I’ve seen in a while.  They are ultra sexy and feminine, and are great statement-makers when pairing them with a cute dress or skirt.

The Sac 57 Handbags are currently my favorite bags by YSL.  They are roomy enough for all of your needs, yet aren’t too big to bring out for dinner when coming from work.  I especially love the black embellished with studs handbag because it’s giving this classic tote an edgy twist.

YSL’s Gold Plated Rings have also grabbed my attention due to the wide range of different materials embellished in the gold plate like glass and wood.  These rings are funky and trendy, and look great with both casual and dressy outfits.

What’s your favorite YSL item?

4 Steps To Customizing Trendy Havaianas

In Shoes on May 31, 2011 at 5:39 PM

After a fun-filled weekend in the Hamptons, waking up early this morning was no easy task.  However, at least I woke up to beautiful and sunny 80 degree weather, whereas last week felt like Fall.  It feels great to be able to walk outside without my arms covered, cute shorts, and great sandals.

When I have lots of walking around to do in the city, or when I hit the beach in the Hamptons, I have an urge to wear flip-flops.  Flip flops are my go to’s for whenever I want to wear a sandal that is light, comfortable, and basic.  No matter how simple an item in my closet may be, I always want it to be chic.

For the past couple of years, I’ve found myself purchasing Havaianas flip-flops most.  Why?  Because they’re colorful, comfortable, and cool.  I have a navy blue metallic pair, a brown pair, and a gold metallic pair, all of which have traveled the world me.

Havaianas lovers (or just flip-flop lovers), get ready to bring out your design creativity because this summer, you can customize your own pair of Havaianas sandals!  In just four simple steps, you can create the ultimate summer flip-flop.

Step 1: choose your gender (boys, you aren’t left out).  Step 2: choose your sole (blues, greens, pink, white, black, grey, etc).  Step 3: choose your strap (same colors as soles, plus the addition of some fun metallics).  Step 4: choose from a trendy selection of crystals and pins (letters, flags, colored crystals, skulls, hearts, etc).  Not only are these customized Havaianas fun, colorful, and stylish, but they’re reasonably priced too.  The sandals start at $25 without embellishments, so as you add crystals and pins, the price will raise.

So have fun, design a trendy sandal, and fashion it all summer long!

A Great Read, and A Funky T-Strap

In Shoes on May 22, 2011 at 10:54 AM

On this overcast Sunday morning, I decided to stay home and relax instead of going out for my typical Sunday brunch.  I’ve been sitting in my comfortable and soft bed for the past few hours, reading my newest book that I picked up yesterday at Book Hampton, Candace Bushnell’s Summer And The City, finding myself already addicted.

I went to the Hamptons (again) for the day yesterday to get our house ready one last time before the big Memorial Day Weekend.  It wasn’t as crowded in Southampton as it was last weekend, which made it somewhat pleasant since next weekend will be pact.  When arriving, I first stopped at San Ambroeus for a cappuccino & croissant to munch on while indulging in Saturday’s New York Post, which is a bit hard to do since the Saturday issue is my least favorite; however, I never like to miss a day of Page Six.  I then ran some errands, browsed in a few stores, and picked up my favorite nonpareils from The Fudge Shop for the Jitney ride home.

While I was walking around, I noticed a lot of women in flat gladiator-style sandals paired with cargo pants, shorts, skirts, you name it.  Gladiator sandals are appropriate for this awkward time between Spring and Summer because they cover some parts of your feet-they won’t be completely bare.

Topshop just came out with a fun and funky pair of ‘Frey Leopard Print T-Bar Sandals‘.  I love these sandals because of the combination of materials: leopard print, and leather metallic.  Leopard has become a classic print to wear all year round, where the silver metallic  adds a fun and glamorous look to the mostly simple sandal.

Pair these adorable t-strap gladiator-looking sandals with a grey loose-knit sweater, black jean shorts (if needed, wear sheer black tights underneath), a silver tote, a tope and silver snake cocktail ring, tortoise sunglasses, and spike silver and crystal earrings.

The sandals are available on for $80.  Have a fun Sunday! ~S

On this Sunday evening, I’m sitting at home with a piece of rhubarb pie, and a notebook, writing down what I need to do this week.  I just looked up the weather, and I’m a bit shocked, and disappointed, to say that it is supposed to rain in NYC until a week from Tuesday.  That is one long Spring shower.

When it rains, you’ll mostly spot me in either my Hunter Boots or my neon orange Nike sneakers, unless my plans require a fancier shoe.  Even though I probably won’t be wearing a pair of pumps in the next couple of days, that doesn’t stop me from admiring some eye-grabbing pairs online.

While browsing Aldo‘s website a few hours ago, I came across a fun yet sophisticated shoe that will look great for Spring (the less rainy ones) and Summer evenings.  Vanliere is a glorious 4 inch heel patent peep-toe pump in nude and black with a slim t-strap, giving you a flattering silhouette.  Ankle straps are extremely flattering with dresses, skirts, and shorts -anything that shows legs-, so try avoiding pants when wearing these shoes.

I love the color combo of the pumps, and I think it would look elegant and chic to try to continue to the color combo throughout the rest of your outfit.  The pumps will look great with a nude and black lace short-sleeve blouse, black dress shorts, a black patent leather clutch with a bow for a flirty touch, and black and gold long hanging earrings.  Also, give yourself a dramatic eye by extending your eyelashes to their longest ability with some intense mascara, and give yourself a bold nude lip.

The Vanliere pumps are available on for $80.

High In Height, and In Pick

In Shoes on April 28, 2011 at 6:53 PM

With rain one hour and sun the next, I have seen quite a variety of shoes on the streets today.  Some girls are fashioning Hunter Boots for those nasty puddles, while elegant uptown ladies don’t give a hoot about the rain, and wear their Louboutins anyways.  Then there are those who are in noticeably dress-code ballet flats coming out of school, the sporty ones in sneakers who can’t miss a jog in the park, even if that means they might get caught in the rain, and then there are those statement making chicks in sky high wedges.

Most of the wedges that I’ve most recently blogged about have been made of cork.  I love the cork look due to its classic simplicity, yet sometimes we find ourselves wanting to be bright, bold, and funky, and slip into a shoe that makes everyones eyes turn wow.

Topshop just came out with a daring pair of ‘SCRIPT Natural Linen High Vamp Peep Toe Platform Wedges‘ that are cool in every shape and form.  These wedges are sky high, chunky, and statement making: I love them.  What I love most about these wedges is its patent orange platform sole and ankle straps.  Another great part about these wedges is the fact that they are part of Topshop’s Edited Collection: pieces handpicked every Tuesday by Jacqui Markham, Head of Design.

Wear these fierce wedges with khaki shorts, an orange short-sleeve button down, black oversized sunglasses, a black long and thin handbag, and a multicolored cuff that incorporates black, orange, and white.

The wedges are available on for $140.

Mixing Your Metals

In Shoes on April 20, 2011 at 7:51 PM

It’s time to get out my white jeans, bikinis, wedges, and a lot more, because I’m heading to Palm Beach.  The weather in NYC has been beautiful lately, with the occasional Spring shower, but the weather in Palm Beach is even nicer.  Every year, I go to Palm Beach to celebrate Passover with my grandparents; however, we still attend the elegant, glamorous, and very fun Easter brunch at our club.  I will show you pictures from the brunch early next week.

As I sit here on my bed blogging, I find myself looking over to my floor which is covered with my large suitcase waiting to be packed, and a pile of shoes.  One of the shoes that is most capturing my eye this evening is a signature Valentino gold sling-back high heel sandal with a bow that I got on sale last summer at Intermix: one of the best sales of the season.  The sandals have become a Spring and Summer basic, but they don’t work with my grey items.

When I was in Washington D.C over the weekend, shopping and browsing at Cusp, I came across an adorable pair of Cynthia Vincent high-heel sandals that will be great for your darker colored outfits.  The shoes are called the ‘Reid Mixed-Stud Sandals‘ and are edgy and cool with mixed metal stud embellishment: silver, gold, gunmetal, bronze and rose.  I love the multicolored metal stud embellishment because it gives you the option to accessorize the rest of your outfit with more than just one option: mix your metals!

I only recently became a fan of Cynthia Vincent when I saw the NYC flagship store downtown: the store has a tribal vibe, and a cool shoe wall.  With this tribal inspiration, wear these sandals with a a relaxed and flowy dress in grey or white.  Don’t just accessorize with one color, but combine the colors of the studs on the shoes: rose, silver, and gold bangles, silver studs, stacked gold rings – what do you think? Experiment!  A fun tote, a tribal pattern scarf, and oversized sunglasses will top it off.

The ‘Reid Mixed-Stud Sandals’ are available on for $295: check them out. (Photos: Cusp and Cynthia Vincent)

Sydney’s Tuesday

In Shoes on April 12, 2011 at 5:17 PM

Rain coats are on and umbrellas are open because it’s raining in the city.  The rain actually started last night right when I left Beauty & Essex, my new favorite restaurant, around midnight.  The music is cool, the scene/vibe is fun, and the food is absolutely delicious.  Plus, for those of you who can drink, there is a bar and bartender in the bathroom with free champagne.  For people who love jewelry like me, there were displays connected to the hostess’s table full of colorful and glamorous jewelry for sale.  I couldn’t snap a picture, but it was just a neat “extra” to have at a restaurant.  Beauty & Essex is definitely all about having a great overall experience.

After a fun evening on the town, some sleep was necessary.  I woke up this morning to my favorite cereal (mini wheats) and a cup of tea, and watched last night’s episode of Bethenny Getting Married.  I then had some things to catch up on at home, and then met my mom for lunch at Madison Avenue’s Bar Italia for a grilled chicken salad and cappuccino.  After lunch, we made two stops: one to a trunk show, and one to Intermix.  The trunk show was for Crew Cuts (J.Crew’s clothing line) and was hosted at a stunning townhouse between Park ave and Lexington ave.  In the room in which the show was set up were racks of boys and girls clothing, shoes, accessories, bowls of candy (bubble gum, mints, chocolate, lollipops, etc), trays of sushi, and plates of cookies.  The benefit for shopping at a trunk show like the one I attended was the ability to shop the Summer collection before it launches in stores: it was quite fun.

When my mom finished purchasing some adorable Summer items for my brother, Mitchell, we stopped into Intermix where I came across a fabulous pair of Missoni shoes.  Missoni is an expensive yet extremely cool and chic label that I’ve loved ever since I got some vintage pieces from my grandmother’s closet years ago.  Missoni is very me with it’s cool patterns and funky colors.

Missoni just came out with ‘Modern Jelly Flats‘ that are an adorable shoe to have for Spring and come Summer.  Jellys are fun and comfortable to wear on warm days, and just have an overall more playful and modern look.  The jelly is in shiny blue and (as said on is styled with peep toes and a sweet checkered and striped woven bow.  The bow is what makes this shoe, and ultimately gives it the signature Missoni flavor.

The Missoni jelly flats are available on for $198.  I’m now headed to meet my friend Missy for a drink.  What are you up to today?

Sydney Meets Mark Badgley and James Mischka

In Fashion Designer, Interview/Personal Appearance, On Location, Shoes on April 7, 2011 at 7:19 PM

This afternoon, I had the opportunity to meet Mark Badgley and James Mischka at the launch of their new footwear line, Mark & James, at Bloomingdales in NYC.  Badgley and Mischka are some of the most talented and respected designers in the fashion industry, and are best known for their couture line, Badgley Mischka.  Badgley Mischka defines Hollywood glamour with its sophisticated, modern, girly, and glamorous style: it’s all about bringing back the glamour of the 40s.

The Badgley Mischka line not only contains clothing, but jewelry, handbags, footwear, eyewear, swimwear, and watches too.  Plus, the designers also have a fragrance, and bridal and bridesmaid line.  I’ve loved Badgley Mischka ever since I was young, and do so even more now that I am older, which made meeting the designers extremely exciting.  The designers’ new Mark & James footwear collection is perfect for the girl who loves Badgley Mischka shoes but wants a more affordable price and modern look.

When meeting the fashionable duo on the contemporary shoe level at Bloomingdales, I asked them what inspired them to create Mark & James.  The designers said that they always get young celebrities wanting to wear their shoes for red carpet events and award shows, and wanted to make a younger and affordable line that is inspired by the young Hollywood stars that wear their shoes.

I then asked the designers what their favorite shoe is from the collection (I loved them all, so I can imagine how difficult it was to pick just one!).  The designers adored their ‘Malko Wedge Sandals‘, which are tall wood wedges with a leather flower and in a flattering t-strap style.  The wedges are perfect for Spring with their chunky and girly look.  I also loved these nude and black large gold stud embellished gladiator sandals with a little heel and ankle strap.  There are many more to-die-for shoes in the collection, and prices of the shoes range from $200-$300.

Meeting the designers was great, and not only did I have fun chatting about the fabulous collection of shoes, but the designers also noticed that I was wearing Badgley Mischka blue multicolored hanging crystal earrings that I’ve been obsessed with ever since I bought them in Palm Beach last year.

Be sure to check out the Mark & James collection to get the perfect stylish shoe for you this Spring.

Wedge It

In Shoes on April 2, 2011 at 6:36 PM

Wow, it was gorgeous today in NYC.  The city was as lively as ever where stores, restaurants, Central Park, and the streets were completely packed.  I woke up on the earlier side, and decided to take a power walk to the Apple store where I had to pick something up.  Since it was quite warm out with a cool breeze, I wore leggings, a multicolored blouse, a tan suede  jacket, black booties, and a Louis Vuitton tote.  Since I was in close proximity to Bergdorfs, FYI – across the street, I decided to browse through the store, specifically the 5th floor (contemporary level).  There wasn’t anything that particuarlly caught my eye, although out of all of the labels, Halston Heritage‘s collection looked the best.

After Bergdorfs, I met my great friend Ruth for lunch at Freds at Barneys where we both had yummy omelets: Al Roker was spotted.  On gorgeous days like today, I try to avoid taxis and walk as much as I can, so Ruth and I decided to take a long walk up Madison Avenue to get a cappuccino and cookies at Sant Ambroeus.

As the air got warmer as the day continued, all I wanted to do was get out of my booties and put on a shoe that showed more feet.  I was too busy to change, but the shoe I wanted to put on was a wedge that I just bought at Bloomingdales by Tory Burch.  Wedges are a must-have for Spring and Summer, a shoe that you most certainly should invest in.  I love wedges because they work with different types of clothing, and can work for day and night.

The shoe that I bought from Tory Burch is called the ‘Wood Wedge Espadrille Sandal‘.  I’ve tried on many wedges, and this wood wedge ended up being the perfect fit for me.  The wedge has an earthy yet sophisticated look with its luxurious leather and jute-wrapped wood.

Ideally, I see these wedges with a funky multicolored skirt, preferably in green, a color that was frequently seen on the runways for Spring, with pops of other colors like bright orange.  It’s not warm enough for a thin shirt just yet, so a black leather jacket will look cool and edgy on top.  Accessorize with a great set of gold and orange bangles, green stone earrings, a light brown/orange leather bag to tie in the color from the buckle strap, and black Ray Ban‘s.

The ‘Wood Wedge Espadrille Sandal‘ is available on for $195.  What are you doing on this beautiful Spring day?

Funky Double Platform

In Shoes on March 27, 2011 at 10:28 AM

Shoes are continuing to be modernized and exaggerated each day.  A few years ago, a simple black pump with a thin high heel was considered to be hot, sexy, and all of the above.  Currently, simplicity is one of the last qualities we see on shoe racks in this day in age.  Now it’s all about different textures, platforms, funky patterns, and cool colors: it’s a shoe revolution.

This Spring, I’m noticing lots of wooden looking platform sandals that are so high that it seems impossible to walk in them.  However, thanks to the secure ankle strap, staying on your two feet shouldn’t be a problem.  If Rachel Zoe can walk in heels throughout her entire pregnancy, than I think we all can.

In fashion, it’s always fun to take risks.  When shopping for shoes, sometimes it is intimidating to try on those sky high and very “out there” looking pairs.  However, if you find the shoe that is your style and is still trendy, you’ll end up feeling comfortable and cool when strutting in your new pair.

Pelle Moda just came out with a funky pair of dark brown and apricot ‘Franky‘ high-heeled sandals that are extremely colorful and bold.  The sandal has a double wooden platform, giving it a sexy edge.  Bringing a pop of color, there is a bold streak of orange leather which tops off this shoe, and is to be highlighted when choosing your perfect outfit.

To bring out the orange bold strap, wear these sandals with an orange silk short sleeve dress, a brown leather handbag to bring in the brown from the shoe, an orange cuff with other bright colors like pink and green, and tortoise shades.  Giving yourself a bright orange lip for the ultimate look.

The sandals are available on for $180: check them out.

First popular in the 1800s, oxfords are back, and are a must-have for Spring.  As the fashion world continues to modernize, it is noticeable that menswear has a significant influence on womenswear: we see this with labels like Rag & Bone.

Initially, oxford shoes were exclusively for men.  Now, we see them being one of the most popular shoes for women to fashion this season, and are given a more feminine touch with ornamentation, color, and sometimes even heels.

Recently, I’ve seen many designers and brands coming out with oxfords in which some look great, but the price is too high, and vise versa.  However, Steve  Madden has done a great job in designing great oxfords that are reasonably priced.

Stripes, leathers, patents, sparkles, and ribbons are some of what you’ll see in Madden’s collection of oxfords.  Each oxford has its own personality  -be it the color, pattern, or style- which gives the shoe a quirky yet fashion-forward look.

Steve Madden recently came out with a ‘Tarrtan’ oxford that comes in two colors: blush patent camel and black patent.  The blush patent camel is my favorite because it will look fresh during the warmer months.  Although the shoe is simple, the blue contrasting tassel gives the oxford a jaunty finishing touch.

Wear this oxford with a denim button-down, black leggings, a blue shoulder bag with gold hardwear, tan and blue cat-eye sunglasses, a blue and gold cocktail ring, and a beige and gold stoned bracelet.  Also, put on light pink nail polish.

The ‘Tarrtan’ oxford is available on for $80.

Woven Jacks

It’s almost time to put away your boots, and bring out your flats.  I love wearing heels, but there are some occasions when they are just not appropriate.  I find myself wearing flats mostly by Stubbs & Wootten, known for their signature slipper in a variety of fabrics such as velvet and needlepoint with symbols/pictures on them (everything from a skull to a flower), and Tory Burch due to comfort and style.  New seasons bring new additions, and I’m ready to add a new brand of flats to my closet: Jack Rogers.
Jack Rogers is one of my favorite brands of sandals.  I live in them in the summer and during cruise season, but I miss them when I can’t wear them on days like today in NYC.  For those of you who love Jack Rogers just as much as I do, you’ll be pleased to know that Rogers’ flats are just as comfortable and stylish as the sandals.

Jack Rogers just came out with an adorable pair of flats that follows the new hot woven shoe trend.  A woven shoe is the shoe to have this Spring.  Tons of designers and brands like Joan & David and Vince Camuto have come out with woven flats, but I think the Jack Rogers’ ones are the best.  The shoe is called the ‘”Java” Slim Flat‘, and is Spring-chic with its stitched detail and metallic leather.  The flat is in the nude family, so it will definitely become an everyday basic.

Wear these woven flats with rolled up washed-out blue jeans and a tan oversized jacket.  Accessorize with a pop of color, preferably turquoise, and wear a turquoise and tan purse, gold hanging earrings, a turquoise and crystal cocktail ring, and tan sunglasses.  For makeup, put on gold and brown eyeshadow, and wear turquoise nail polish (if you’re in the mood).

The Jack Rogers’ ‘”Java” Slim Flats‘ are available on for $198: check them out.

Louboutin (Lust) vs Aldo (Must)

For the girl who loves Louboutin’s, but not the price, I’ve found a perfect Spring shoe for you.  Christian Louboutin is, in my opinion, the most brilliant shoe designer in the fashion industry.  The variety of styles and colors are impeccable, and the red sole and heel tops every shoe off with perfection.  By the way, did you know that Louboutin is creating a shoe called ‘Blake’ in honor of Gossip Girl star Blake Lively?  So cool.  Unfortunately, Louboutin’s are extremely expensive; however, certain brands have come out with look-alikes, but not in a noticeable way that looks as if you’e wearing a copy.  Aldo is a shoe brand that has achieved this well.

A classic lust Louboutin shoe is ‘Bianca’, a black platformed stiletto slingback pump, and is $750 too expensive.  Aldo recently came out with a great look-a-like, ‘Aime‘, that might actually suit you better come Spring and Summer due to the color options.  As said on, these high-heel slingback pumps feature almond-toe, compensating high-platform, and hot patent finish.

What I love most about this shoe is the three colors that it is available in: camel, khaki, and black patent.  Each color is great, but the camel pump is my favorite.  Camel is a refreshing color, and will somewhat replace your black shoe during Spring and Summer since it’s a basic color.

Not only will this camel ‘Aime‘ shoe be perfect for parties and cocktail events, but it will also look great during the day for a city girl on-the-go look.  Wear these pumps with a navy-blue, camel, and white tie-dye dress, and belt it with a camel belt if you wish.  For accessories, a metallic navy-blue and camel hardware oversized handbag will look great, a gold and clear-stoned ring, delicate earrings with hints of pearls, aviators, and midnight blue metallic nail polish to tie everything in.

The ‘Aime‘ pumps are available in all three colors on for $80.  Do you think this is a good Style Solution?

Sun, Sun, Sun: Here We Come

In Shoes on February 23, 2011 at 9:55 AM

The hours prior to heading back to NYC this afternoon will be spent walking around on Worth Avenue, lunching, and getting some more sun.  It’s hard to imagine how you can be in eighty-degree weather one day, and eighteen on another.  Although my fur jacket awaits, I’m still taking advantage of the shorts and sandal aesthetic for one more day.

A great outfit for walking around on a hot sunny day when you want to be casual yet chic is the following: white shorts, a v-neck, fun sunglasses, a light handbag, and a statement shoe.  When wanting to follow this aesthetic, I like to wear my shell-embellished Jack Rogers sandals: they’re comfortable, stylish, and fun.

Steve Madden recently came out with a pair of “Groom” sandals that have a similar look and will be a go-to sandal for casual days in the sun.  The sandal is flat, silver, and embellished with gorgeous colored stones which creates a glamorous and statement-making look (the purple stones are my favorite).  You want the shoe to be the center of attention, so keep the outfit simple: white shorts, a gray v-neck, a silver tote, clear sunglasses, and some fun crystal rings.  If you’re obsessed with having perfectly polished nails like me, give yourself a quick polish change and put on a fun color like blue.

The shoes are available on for $80.

By the way, I figured out what to wear last night, and I was very content with what I was wearing.  What I didn’t mention was that after I went to Nordstrom, I stopped into Anthropologie which was next door.  I purchased a Chanel-looking tweeted light jacket in pale colors, and a turquoise and navy-blue short-sleeved blouse which I wore last night.  I paired the blouse with white jeans, my nude pumps, my nude Balenciaga bag and my gold BCBG earrings.

Anthrpologie is a great store for fun blouses and accessories, and I highly recommend shopping this store for Spring and Summer pieces.

Walk In The Name of Fashion

In Shoes on February 11, 2011 at 5:17 PM

Tomorrow is the first of the shows that I will be attending during Fashion Week.  I’ve dreamed of going to Fashion Week for so long now, and I am so happy to say that I’ll be able to attend some shows. For the past couple of days, I’ve been figuring out what to wear to each show.  The “fashion show known” is that you’re supposed to wear the designer whose show you are attending.  Being younger, I like to mix and match the designer whose show I am going to’s pieces combined with pieces of my own.

Today I finally set in stone what I am wearing to each show, and I will take photos on the days of the show of what I am wearing.  For the show I am going to on Tuesday, which I am not going to announce until the day of since I think it’s truly fabulous, I need to wear more of a spunky and cool outfit.  This morning, I took a walk to the BCBG near my school, and picked out my outfit.

One of the items that I bought while at BCBG was not necessary, but definitely what I needed to finish off my look: it’s the “Crocodile- Embossed Wedge Sandal“.  I know we are still in the middle of Winter, but when the shoes are on, they kind of look like a bootie, so I will be fashioning them with my outfit.  The sleek suede with exotic detail (as said on makes this wedge a must-have for this season’s flourishing looks, and they will most certainly become an evening basic.

The shoe is open-toed, has criss-cross straps with cutouts, zip-back closure with a tassel, and a 4 inch heel with .5 platform.  The shoe is chunky, fierce, and right on trend for the coming season, Spring. Keep your outfit strong and dark with leather-looking black leggings, an oversized sweater, hanging earrings, and a clutch.  The shoe is available on for $185.

After checking out these adorable pair of wedges, make sure to follow me on Twitter @SydneySadick for live coverage during the Jill Stuart show tomorrow.

It’s Enough Already!

In Shoes on January 28, 2011 at 6:06 PM

Puddles, puddles, and more puddles are what’s left on the streets in NYC after a big snow storm like the one yesterday.  I stuck with my plan and got a pedicure, and ended up having to walk home.  I didn’t dry my nails, so I couldn’t put on my boots, and I ended up walking home in flip flops.  I cannot describe how many looks I received, and the expressions on peoples faces: I thought it was quite funny.  At this point, I am so tired of always wearing boots, it’s enough already!: Hunter Boots, knee-high boots, booties, you name it.  Love them, but I need a break.

The day the streets get less puddly, I will be putting on a fabulous pair of shoes.  I found a shoe while browsing Rachel Zoe’s Picks on, which is more for Spring, that has grabbed my attention, and will definitely be a new addition to my shoe closet:  Medea’s Mea Shadow shoe.  The Mea Shadow shoe is a Spring must (boy does Spring and all that the season comes with like the gorgeous flowers sound great right now).  The shoe is a high-heeled wedge, which will look great with anything from a Spring short, skirt, pants, or dress.  Each season requires a new shoe, because there is always a new hot color, style, and brand.

The  Mea Shadow shoe has a girly vibe with its dusty rose color, but a drop of spunk and edge with the embellished silver studs and the buckle detail.  I envision this shoe with a pair of blue skinny jeans, a sleeveless sequin tank in shades of pink and purple, a black boyfriend blazer, a black with silver hardware cross-body, a rose-gold and white combo watch, a rose gold and crystal ring, and light pink and nude eye-shadow for a fresh look.

The shoe is available for $190 on, and is definitely a chic pick if it was on Rachel Zoe’s list.

The Snow Is Back

In Clothing, Shoes on January 27, 2011 at 9:33 AM

Another snow day!  I really didn’t expect to have one today.  When I got the phone call bright and early this morning that schools would be closed, I was nothing but shocked, and half asleep.  However, I’m not complaining.  I have some work to do this morning, but I will definitely be out this afternoon having lunch at Freds at Barneys, running some errands, and might squeeze in a pedicure later on.  This snow day really gives me a chance to do things that I rarely have time to do during the week.

If you’re someone like me who just can’t stand spending an entire day at home, bundling up with a warm jacket and wearing the right snow boots is crucial for being out and about on this snow day.  I love a gray and black outfit for a day like this, and of course a pop of color by adding a silver metallic accessory.  Here’s my ideal outfit:

Jacket: Keep warm in a heavy grey wool duffle coat like the one from a European website called Debenhams.  The jacket is simple and chic with its black toggle fastening, and has a classic look that will not only work with casual outfits, but dressier ones too.  Wear this jacket for a day like today with black leggings and a long-sleeved black shirt or sweater. This jacket is definitely an ideal Winter coverup, and is available for $135 on

Boots: My first recommendation for this weather would be to wear your Hunter Boots, but it’s not fun to wear them every time it snows.  Your next best option  is to wear Moon Boots, and I found a pair in metallic silver that is adorable.  As said on, the high quality foam insulation keeps you warm, while adjustable laces give you an extra-tight fit.  The boots are cool-looking and will definitely get you through those snowy streets, and are available on for $150.

Finish up this outfit by accessorizing with a gray/black crystal combo earring, a black shoulder bag with silver hardware, a black cocktail ring, fingerless gloves for warmth and texting ability, black sunglasses, and a gray hat.  Enjoy the snow for those of you who have it!

Bow Point Basic

Tomorrow is Friday and I am so excited.  Goodbye flats and hello heels.  No more dressing in your work and school outfits, but your weekend fun attire.  I kick off the start to my weekend with a great outfit that requires a pump.  Black is usually the color of my go-to pump, but lately nude/camel has been grabbing my attention and looking even better with my wardrobe. There are still those times when a hint of black is required, so how about a combination of the two?

Do you have a go-to pump?  If so, it’s most likely black.  Nude/camel shoes are extremely popular right now with designers such as Christian Louboutin, who is the best of the best.  If you’re short, like me, and like to wear heels, black pumps make it more obvious that you’re not naturally that height because they draw the attention to the shoe instead of your overall look.  However, when you wear a nude or camel pump, it is more settle and not so overly chunky looking.

Topshop just came out with a great pump that will fulfill your need of a black and nude/camel shoe.  The pump is called the “Glitz Camel Suede Bow Point Court Shoe” and is a classic yet fun addition to have in your shoe closet.  The shoe is in suede with a pointed-toe topped off with an adorable black patent-leather bow.  The shoe can either be dressed up or down.  For the day, put on a pair of black leggings or skinny black jeans, a black blouse, a statement earring, black and gold stacked rings, a nude tote, and the shoes for a fun yet classic look.  For the evening, keep the top half of your outfit and change the bottom by putting on a black skirt with black tights and a nude clutch.  For makeup, give yourself a smokey eye with a hint of gold to brighten you up.

The pumps are adorable and are perfect for the Winter: check them out for $125 on

Riviera Chic

In Shoes on January 14, 2011 at 3:12 PM

The freezing months of Winter make taking a vacation to a warm place very appealing.  The thought of going away for this long weekend, honoring Martin Luther King Jr., makes me want to only look at resort collections; however, I’ll be staying in the city.  Just because I’m not going to be in Miami and Palm Beach until February doesn’t mean that I can’t fantasize about what I’ll be wearing.  For my next trip to the sunshine state, all I want is a pair of Tory Burch “Striped Canvas Espadrilles“.

The Miami Beach boardwalk is one of my favorite places to take a long walk: you can see all of the amazing hotels on one side with the beautiful beach on the other.  The first time I walked the boardwalk, I had on a pair of pumps-bad idea.  Now I know better to either wear flats or sneakers, and I haven’t made that mistake since.  The Tory Burch espadrilles will be perfect for walking, and are a warm-weather necessity.  I love high-heel espadrilles, but if I can’t wear them, these Tory Burch flats are the best option.  A girl can’t wear heels all the time, can she?  Well, I can.

The “Striped Canvas Espadrilles” come in three color combinations: navy and white, pale blue and natural, and latte and natural.  I love all three colors, but the navy espadrilles have a riviera-chic inspired look, which is very now.  The navy espadrilles are embroidered with the signature Tory Burch logo -it feels like I see the logo everywhere I go- in bright red which gives the shoe a pop of necessary color.

Slip on these adorable shoes with navy blue shorts, a navy blue and white striped quarter-length t-shirt, a nude hobo bag, and a mixture of silver and gold bangles for a day of fun in the sun.  Keep the sun out of you’re eyes with a Ray Ban shade in either blue, white, or black.

Not only do the espadrilles look great, but the price of them are great too.  The espadrilles are available on for $95.

Walk The Streets In DVF

I’m so happy it’s Saturday: it’s my favorite day of the week.  I look forward to Saturday each week not only because it’s the weekend, but because it’s my favorite day to dress up – I don’t hold back whatsoever.  However, it is so freezing outside today that all I want to do is be fashionably casual and comfortable.  I am wearing a deep black v-neck, a black and grey reversible sweatshirt with a rose-gold zipper, a cool pair of orange and gray sneakers, a black fur vest, a black Balenciaga purse, black leather gloves, and my oversized sunglasses. Yes i’m wearing jewelry too: stud earrings, a ring, a watch, and a bracelet.

Although I am dressed way more casual today than my usual Saturday attire, I will be dressed up this evening in a great pair of boots.  Boots can most definitely make an outfit, especially if there is something unique about them.  I have a bunch of boots that differ in color, texture, and hight.  For example, I have flat black leather knee-high boots, a pair of navy-blue suede heeled boots, black patent-leather heeled boots, Hunter Boots, plus more. What are my favorite type of boots?  Ankle booties.

Diane Von Furstenberg came out with an adorable pair of ankle booties that I’ve spotted for the past couple of weeks that will make your Winter wardrobe.  Now that they’re on sale, I knew that I had to blog about them.  The boot is in black suede with a purple -my favorite color- and plum ruched trim. The trim is what makes this boot so special: it gives the boot a pop of color and a unique look.  It’s taking the simple black boot aesthetic and adding some glamour and fun.

The boot is chic and sexy with its 5 inch heal and 0.5 inch platform: love the height combo.  For day, put on a pair of black leggings, a blouse in either purple or plum, and a black or gray jacket.  Accessorize with silver jewelry and a black patent leather bag.  For evening, dress these booties up with either a black skirt and purple blouse or a cute cocktail dress with a hanging earring, cocktail ring, black tights since it’s cold outside, and a black patent leather clutch.  Whether you dress these boots up or down, they will look great.

Originally sold for $395, the boots are now available on for $158.  That’s a deal.

Sydney Meets Sam Edelman

In Fashion Designer, Interview/Personal Appearance, Resort, Shoes on January 2, 2011 at 9:30 AM

A typical day in Palm Beach is as simple as this: shop on Worth Avenue, and then hit the beach and the pool.  As I walked through one of my favorite esplanade’s on Worth Avenue, I spotted a store that I have never seen, and I was so pleasantly surprised: it was a Sam Edelman store.

Sam Edelman -the shoe brand that we all love from department stores like Nordstrom and Bloomingdales in addition to private stores- has come to the streets of Palm Beach.  Edelman’s designs and colors are great, and the prices are very affordable for those of you who are on a budget: $69-$250.  This is the first store that Edelman has opened, and it is most definitely impressive.  As you walk in the door, you feel as if you’re in a shoe wonderland.  The store is cool and modern, yet still has a chic and glamorous Palm Beach look.  Every resort shoe that your heart desires from the Sam Edelman collection is displayed on shelves and tables for easy shopping like his wife’s collection called Libby which defines the Palm Beach look.  As Edelman says, Libby is more mature: I think the Libby shoes are sophisticated, elegant, chic, glamorous, and colorful.

As I was in the store, I had the opportunity to interview Sam Edelman for Style Solutions which was very exciting since he is one of my  favorite shoe designers.  When asking Edelman why he opened a store in Palm Beach, he said, “The idea came to us: we believe in the concept of a luxury brand at an affordable price.  Palm Beach is a great approach to different, whimsical, and unique shopping.”  I then asked Edelman what inspires his designs: “Fashion is a big inspiration.  I study furniture, food, trends, and lifestyle: everything.

Edelman’s shoes can go from a classic flat sandal to a spiked peep-toe pump called Lorissa.  When asking which shoe in Edelman’s collection is for the “Sam Edelman girl” and who the Sam Edelman girl is, he said, “The Lorrisa shoe is for the Sam girl.  She is the real Sam customer who is usually 19-28.  She’s tired of wearing the same thing, is influenced by fashion, and knows fashion more than politics.”  I guess you could call me a Sam girl then.

I asked Edelman what the near future holds for him.  Edelman said, “brand extensions and accessories.”  After talking to Edelman -which was such a pleasure- I purchased a sandal that Edelman recommended for me: the Gigi sandal in gold/bronze and orange.  Edelman recommended this shoe because it’s in the Hermes colors (I love Hermes): he is signing the bottom of my shoes before I head back to NYC tomorrow.

So the next time you’re in Palm Beach, check out the Sam Edelman store, and you will have a great shopping experience.  If you purchase a pair of his shoes, he’ll sign your pair too.

The Palm Beach Shoe

In Resort, Shoes on December 27, 2010 at 10:43 AM

Last night might have been the worst blizzard I’ve experienced in NYC, but that hasn’t stopped me from getting ready to go to Miami and Palm Beach.  Now leaving on Wednesday, all I can think about is resort fashion.  For a week, (starting today) I will only be blogging about resort fashion: not only will I give Style Solutions, but I will also do store profiles (later in the week) on my favorite boutiques in Miami and Palm Beach.  Some of my favorite shopping of the year takes place in the “sunshine state”, so I want to give you a taste of Miami and Palm Beach style

When going to Florida, I tend to pack a lot because there are so many different activities going on during the day: going to the beach, going to town, going out at night, etc. Since I’m bringing lots of clothes, I try to minimize the amount of shoes. Great shoes that are perfect for day time, the beach, and a casual evening are Jack Rogers.

Jack Rogers defines the the Palm Beach shoe: they’re fashionable, comfortable, and colorful.  I own a bunch of Jack Rogers, but I don’t like to have the same styles that everyone else has.  Rogers comes out with a different resort shoe each season that brings diversity and fun to his collection.  Jack Rogers just came out with a “Bahamas Navajo Jelly” that is perfect to throw in your beach bag or even dress up with a “summery” dress.  The classic Navajo sandal that you see everyone wearing is now available in this younger look, and I think it’s a great addition to Rogers’ collection.

The sandal comes in five colors: white, turquoise, pink, yellow, and black: the turquoise is my favorite.  The black and white are the safer choices, but I say go for something bright because I hate the thought of a dark outfit in Florida.

Buy these $68 jelly’s, and they will bring variety to your shoe closet and style to your resort outfits.

Attention Grabbing Flats

In Holiday, Shoes on December 20, 2010 at 10:45 AM

“Walking around the Christmas tree” can take a bit of energy if you’re walking around a tree as big as the one in lets say Rockefeller Center.  The most walking during the winter season takes place during the holidays, so it’s important to have that stylish yet comfortable shoe that you can use at home for the holidays and then take it with you when you jet set to a warm place.

Flats are not my favorite type of shoes, but if they have a great look, you might be able to see me in them.  Holiday shoppers, it’s time to get your gift recipient a pair of flats: a great looking pair of flats.  What makes flats great?  Color, design, and shape.  Your gift recipient can always run out to a store and buy herself a pair of inexpensive black flats, so lets stay away from the basics and get something a little more daring this year.

Vince Camuto just came out with a topaz ‘Stine Flat‘ that will grab attention from all ways.  I love this shoe because it has the ability to make outfits more fun with the color and detailing.  If you’re at home for the holidays, you could wear these flats with a simple pair of blue jeans and a black sweater, and if you’re vacationing somewhere warm, you could wear white jeans and a white blouse and then use the flats to bring that pop of color.  The jewel detail at the front of the shoe is what makes it an attention grabber: it is bold and chic and will give a simple outfit some extra pizzaz.

The flats are $99 and will look great no matter where you spend your holiday season.  Check them out on

Share The Warmth

In Holiday, Shoes on December 13, 2010 at 3:42 PM

If there is one part of my body that is always cold during the Winter, it’s my feet.  I hate wearing socks because I feel like I’m going to slide on my marble floor, so I would usually wear flip-flops.  However, it’s a bit too cold for them now.  It’s time to put your Havaianas away and bring out your comfy slippers.

A great gift for the holidays is a pair of slippers.  Once opening the present by the tree, I guarantee your gift-reciever will put them on in no time.  When I think of slippers I want something extremely comfortable and warm, but I still want them to look fashionable.  For all of you Ugg lovers, these slippers will be perfect for you: it’ll be like wearing Uggs yet around the house.

Ugg just came out with a a pair of ‘Cozy Knit‘ slippers that combines the style of your favorite Ralph Lauren-looking sweater with the comfy and warmness of a slipper.  One of the reasons why everyone loves Uggs is because of the fur inside.  Don’t worry because these slippers are lined with it as well.  The slipper comes in three colors: black, chocolate, and cream.  The cream is my favorite color because it looks like it came right out of a snowy winter day.

If you need to run out to lets say the supermarket and don’t want to change your shoes, you don’t have to because this slipper has a rubber outsole (although I do like to have separate indoor and outdoor shoes).  The ‘Cozy Knit‘ slipper is (as said on the Ugg website) the season’s must have indoor/outdoor slipper.  The slipper is $100 and is available on

Louboutin’s All The Way

In Holiday, Shoes on December 9, 2010 at 3:50 PM

Like the new snow effect?  I think it gives a winter-wonderland touch.  Speaking of winter, I can’t get one of my favorite Christmas Songs (Jingle Bells) out of my head! Well, a certain version, one of which Louboutin replaces Jingle Bells in the lyrics. As I was walking home from school today, I spotted a pair of Louboutin’s (the store is conveniently next door to my school) and am now obsessed with a pair that are perfect for all seasons, including the mini season: cruise.  For this Christmas, the perfect gift would be Louboutin’s all the way..

The most popular shoe brand is Christian Louboutin.  We love his shoes because of the sexy design-aesthetic, wide color pallet, and signature red painted sole and heel that symbolizes the brand.  I do currently own a pair, and I have to say they are the most comfortable pumps compared to all of the less expensive ones I have.  Not only do buyers and lusters obsess over this brand, but celebrities do too.  Did you know that Christian Louboutin is creating a shoe called the ‘Blake’ in honor of Gossip Girl star Blake Lively?  So cool.

It’s actually better to have one fabulous pair of pumps that you’ll use all of the time -which are comfortable and a basic- than having multiple cheap pairs that fall apart after a couple wears.  Put a pair of Louboutin’s on your wish list ladies, because these shoes are truly the best.  The pair that I am currently obsessed with is the Prorata 90mm beige platform pump.  The pump defines a sexy yet classy shoe and will become your go-to.  I love beige shoes – which are extremely popular right now – because they can become your new black pumps.  Sticking with the same black shoe can be boring, so why not change it up with a neutral color?  You can wear these pumps with anything from a flirty dress, a mini skirt, to jeans and a boyfriend blazer, plus more.

The shoes are definitely expensive, actually crazy expensive ($735), but they truly are great.  Even if the shoes are out of your budget, you can still find other great shoes that follow this aesthetic and will still give you a fashionable look: there is always a way to find another solution when it comes to fashion.  Check these platform pumps out on, and as the website says, “you can stand in them all day and still keep them on to vacuum when you get home!

Piperlime Giftcard

In Holiday, Shoes on December 5, 2010 at 4:32 PM is a fabulous website for purchasing anything from clothing, to accessories, to shoes, and more.  I personally think that the shoe section of the site is the best of all because of its wide variety of brands, designs, and color options.  One might think that picking a pair of shoes out online is a difficult task, but it’s even more difficult to pick out a pair of shoes online for someone else.

Here’s a solution: a Piperlime giftcard.  I used to think that gift cards were impersonal and were only given to people you don’t know well, but I don’t feel that way anymore.  Gift cards are a way to let people pick out what they want, which is ultimately the goal for the gift-shopper and the gift-reciever.

Holiday gifts can be pricey, but with this Piperlime giftcard, you can determine how much you want to spend.  Here are the amounts: $10, $25, $50, $75, $100, $150, $200, $250, and $500.  As you can see, there is a wide range of how much you can spend, so this is a perfect option for anyone as close as a girlfriend/boyfriend or parent, and as far as a distant cousin or friend at work.

Don’t forget, Piperlime is a website owned by Gap with sub companies Banana Republic, Athleta, and Old Navy, so you can even use your giftcard at those additional stores. Check out to purchase a giftcard and find out more info about it.

Take Command

In Shoes on November 21, 2010 at 9:12 AM

It’s time to take command in a new pair of ballet flats.  I’ve never been a huge fan of flat shoes -there’s something about a heal that makes an outfit so much better- but there are some times when I feel they look good with jeans like on a casual Sunday.

It’s time to take command in not only a pair of flats, but camouflage ballet flats.  If you’re going to wear a ballet flat that isn’t a basic color like black then why not wear one with a cool pattern and following the hottest global fashion trend: military.

Matt Bernson just came out with a camouflage ballet flat with a stud detail in the back of the heal.  The flat will look great with your black, brown, and green pieces.  Keep the outfit simple and then go glamorous with the accessories like a chunky black bag, the Wink stone ring that I blogged about a few months ago, some diamond-looking earrings, and gold bangles.

The flats are great- simple yet chic.  They are $155 and are available on

Mark Your Calendars

Mark your calendars ladies, because Lanvin for H&M is launching at select H&M stores tomorrow (Saturday November 20th).  Tomorrow will be one of the most exciting days in fashion of the year, so find a H&M that sells this new collection and get to it early so you can have first picks on your favorite pieces- the merchandise is going to sell out quickly.  This collection is for Lanvin lovers and those who love H&M prices.

Puffy dresses, floral patterns, neon colors, animal print, furs, coats, short silhouettes, pumps, you name it: this line has it all.  I’ve seen photos of the collection and let me tell you, it looks amazing. It is the ideal collection for girls who love to dress up at a good price.  The collection is most definitely dressy – perfect for those holiday parties – which is ideal because it’s hard to find a dress by a designer that is under $300.

The dresses run for $149-$249, coats run for $149-$349, and all shoes are $99 – Carrie Bradshaw would be sprinting at this point.  This collection is a great opportunity for those who love Lanvin but don’t want to spend a crazy amount of money.

Get well rested tonight because tomorrow will be a cat fight at H&M stores.  Get ready, get set, and go!

These Boots Are Made For Walkin’

In Shoes on November 15, 2010 at 4:15 PM

The Nancy Sinatra lyrics from “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’ ” came to my mind when I saw a fabulous pair of sapphire booties online.  I love all of my black pieces in my closet (whether it be clothes, shoes, or accessories), but sometimes my typical all-black New York City attire gets to be a little boring.  We all wear black because it gives us security: we know we’ll look good in it, it’s easy to match with other pieces in our closets, and it’s simple.

You can keep your all-black look- but add a little spice to it- by adding one bit of color by wearing a colored scarf, sweater, boot, or accessory- plus more.  Linda Ruched just came out with a chic sapphire suede bootie called ‘Ash’ that is “inspired by the brilliance of one of our favorite precious stones, and adds vivid color to drab days.”  This boot will look great with an all black outfit because it will still be simple and chic but with some color.  I see these booties in two different looks.

Look 1: Tight black leggings, black tank or v-neck, sparkly/sequin boyfriend blazer, a black clutch, small diamond or diamond looking earrings, a cocktail ring, and the booties.

Look 2: Simple and elegant black dress (any sleeve length) yet short, black tights, a fur vest or leather jacket (depending on which you prefer), a long chunky necklace with small earrings and rings (I would go for silver jewels), and an evening shoulder bag + the booties.

The boots are $195 and are available on

Orro Boho-Chic

In Shoes on November 9, 2010 at 4:10 PM

Have you looked in your shoe closet lately and noticed you have a limited amount of color?  It’s time to branch away from your black and brown basics and try something new.  Colored shoes can be intimidating at times, but not when you pair them up with a simple yet chic outfit.

Nine West just came out with an ‘Orro’ boot in cognac (a mixture of rusty brown and pumpkin-esq orange) that has the ability to be paired with an outfit as simple has a t-shirt and jeans or a funky patterned blouse. Any shoe that has a wedge or a heel captures my attention, so I love the fact that this boot has a wedge.  The little buckle on the side gives it that extra “something” that makes the boot “boho-chic”.

If you don’t like this color but you like the style, the boot also comes in gray and black – the grey is my second favorite.

This boot is available on for $99.

One thing that we can never get enough of in the winter is black boots.  We love them because they go with everything: deciding whether to wear them or not doesn’t require much thinking.  Boots can only go through so much before looking old and gross, so it’s good to have multiples.

It can be pricey to have more than one pair of black boots, but that’s only if you buy expensive ones.  You can have your special boot that you wear out at night or for special events, but there is that need for lesser expensive boots for your everyday running around, work, school, etc.

Rampage just came out with a ‘Snookie’ black wedge knee-high boot that is a great basic to have.  It’s $45 yet it looks expensive.  The boot will look great tucked into leggings like Blake Lively does on the set of Gossip Girl.  Knee-high boots are definitely a trend.

Two pumps, two brands, and one look.  What makes every woman feel sexy?  Wearing a high-heeled pump.  Lets go beyond a high-heeled pump; a high-heeled platform pump.

Elizabeth and James – a clothing and accessory label designed by our favorite twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen – is known for dramatic yet simple pieces.  The line has a signature platform pump that comes in different colors and fabrics based on the season like pink and suede.  The black platform is in leather and  will give your ‘going out look’ that extra edge.  The shoe was originally sold for $350 and is on sale for $249.  If that price is more than you want to spend, don’t worry because there is another option.

Sam Edelman, a shoe designer, came out with a shoe with a very similar aesthetic called Niland that is just as nice as the Elizabeth and James shoe but for less.  It is sold for $100.

Both shoes have a great look, so it really doesn’t matter which one you buy.  It all comes down to price.  Both platforms are available on
